Directs have substance beyond just one thing the majority of the time. What you call filler is usually content that other people care about, like a new game reveal or info about another up and coming release. If I have zero interest in Z or whatever it is I have zero interest in this Direct that's SUPPOSED to celebrate the entire series. I'd much rather have a 20 minute Direct with minor details we  haven't heard about for games like Pokken or even Detective Pikachu than just have a vague as hell basic  railer like we got with XY and a halfhearted "Happy anniversary Pokemon!" It just comes off as lazy to do something like this, with what will surely be single trailer, and call it a Direct just because fans are patiently waiting for a new Direct. They already have to go into overdrive NOT to disappoint me because they're doing a bad job of handling it thus far - it depends how they'd even play a second region in this game for me to care about it, if that rumor is true.

Maybe you are satisfied with one thing which I'm almost certain will be incredibly vague, but Nintendo has done these Directs in such a way that they've set moderate to high expectations for them, and a single trailer masked as a Direct is not gonna cut it unless they do something absolutely nuts. And hey, if they go nuts and do the fated all-gen game, then maybe it's worth the five minutes, but I doubt that's gonna happen and I doubt we really want it to happen so this is going to disappoint in all likelihood.

Ah well if you're into spin-offs more than the mainseries then I guess you'd have no reason to be hyped for this, but it's clear they're only gonna talk about one game and it doesn't mean they wont discuss others later.

We've had game specific directs many times in the past, infact Pokemon X/Y was announced this way iirc. The filler I'm refering to is like in that direct, before they got to the reveal trailer they spent 10 minutes talking about the history of Pokemon. Nothing wrong with that, but it's not new content/info, so technically it's filler. At this point, Pokken talk would be filler because we already know everything about it. Similar case for Detective Pikachu unless they give us western release dates. That's why I'd be disappointed if they did spend time on those games. I think a new entry in the core series that made Pokemon what it is today does celebrate the franchise as a whole. Besides, by your logic they'd have to talk about every Pokemon game ever, and ain't no one got the time for dat!

What directs have you been watching!? It's always been way wiser to expect little to nothing. For this direct specifically I think everyone is expecting a new mainline Pokemon game as that's the most likely thing to happen, so it actually shouldn't disappoint that many.
