The 3ds has some sort of AR function with its special Nintendo AR cards so since the NX might be some sort of Fusion technology and will be more powerful i can see them implementing AR technology.

Nintendo and the Pokemon company have been looking into AR with Pokemon Go  a AR Pokemon game that puts you in the shoes of a trainer.

Also Nintendo is looking into virtual reality ( http://venturebeat.com/2016/02/02/nintendo-is-looking-into-virtual-reality/ ). Yes i know there not exactly the same thing but are still similar in ways.

It would honestly be cool to have a home console and see you favorite Nintendo characters in HD right in front of you and play mini AR games with them.

Thoughts?

im shocked people dont care. This would be a neat feature.

I'm sure Nintendo could find something unique to do with this, but honestly they'd probably just either use it for minor titles, tack it onto something that doesn't need it, or, worse, shove it down our throats.

So it's most likely either going to be pointless or intrusive. Honestly, I don't care.

bet: lost

NOPE, save that money and give me the scrollable triggers.

Yes, the RA games were fun and all but after I completed all of them (which took me a couple hours) I never touched them ever again.
I simply don't think there is any way to use it the way Nintendo intended it. If I were in them I'd release NX with the trigger twist (&/or the screen on the controller as of in the lastest patent) and then I'd move towards VR depending on how the market reacts to Morpheus and Oculus...

i dont care. i mean, the 3DS has AR function but it was only entertaining for about a day. it was barely even utilized to the proper extent. they threw in some minigames that anybody who has had a 3DS for more than 2 weeks has already forgotten, the dungeon finder in Gates to Infinity that nobody ever used, and has that one FPS disaster minigame in MP: Island Tour.

a way to do it right would be to have pokemon battles projected into real life that you could view on the screen in AR.

they could have had a card game that would have an AR battlefield with spells and shit coming out of the cards you throw down.

but lets be real, there is no way that would happen and we should just let Microsoft consume AR as a developmental software piece rather than being used for gaming

AR is garbage. If it wasn't, somebody would have made something decent with it by now.

Also, Nintendo is not looking into VR regardless of what that article says.

Well theres Pokemon Go and Hololens.

Give AR an actually purpose. Like make a Yugioh show holo system, for the TCG. Or the Pokemon TCG. Would simulate Pokemon Stadium. But that would require good voice reconition. Shooting helicopters. And looking at statues got old after a week.

AR is annoying so no.

I would love the pokemon thing.

Yeah. It be a great use for the Gamepad. If the Pokemon TCG AR game was built into each one (they use the N64/GC models). And the Gamepad could run it, on its own. It could add to the TCG. And maybe have one reason to sell the Gamepad alone. It could also allow the TCG be usable in the games. Unlocking your Pokemon, from the cards. For Poken Fighter. Or the standard games.
