Forums - Gaming - The Wii U Version Of Hyper Light Drifter Is “Currently In Limbo” - Dev offers keys for other platforms incase WiiU version does not come out

This is why I refrain from kickstarting games.

Somewhat unrelated, but if the same thing happens with the Wii U port of Bloodstained, I am gonna laugh and cry painfully.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Since i cant get it on wii u should i get it on my xbox one or ouya? Hard decisions.

Not really surprising, and is also why I'm skeptic when seeing Kickstarter goals for the Wii U

Man, that sucks if it can't make the Wii U. My plan remains to buy it on the Wii U, but if it doesn't, I may have to pass.

I'm just glad I didn't pledge if that's the case.

Same. I was really excited about this, it seemed like a game that would be a perfect fit for the console's audience.

I agree with the guy commenting on it being a pattern for Wii U titles on Kickstarter, though. This isn't the first time I've heard of something like this happening and I'm usually under the impression that if they really wanted to make a Wii U version happen, they would.

Yeah, it def looks like a good fit, with that bit style look. It's kinda reminicient of the 8-bit/16-bit games. Hopefully they can work something out for the WIi U version...

So... They didn't test the game engine from day 1? Thanks indies. More reasons to never bother looking at kickstarter games.

Sucks for those who funded the game, this is why I avoid kickstarters.

That's the key. They just saw the console is not selling, NX is coming soon and the amount of work they need is too big compared to other consoles. At the end they did a promise but they dont want to take the risk now.

You have no idea one way or the other.  Everything they've said so far is logical and understandable.  No one is going to stop production on a game like this just make another build on another engine for the Wii U.  Like it or not, that's just common sense.  They probably can't even afford to do that.

Rather, why aren't you directing your anger at Nintendo and Yoyo Games?  It's the same reason there is no Wii U port of Undertale, after all.

I'm done with kickstarter.

If You think about it Nintendo is doing the same thing- axing some of its better games from the Wii u and keeping them for another platform- the NX

Buying a Nintendo console on launch day is kind of like funding a Kickstarter in a way- I ve never funded a kickstarter (and never will) but I did buy the Wii U on launch day (and will never buy one on or close to launch again if at all)

^ I don't see why that would be the case, unless you've never bought any other Nintendo console ever (or at least nothing since the SNES).

Their first-party output is and always has been great, and it's the main reason to buy a Nintendo console. On that front, the Wii U is one of their best efforts. Third-party support is welcomed, but it's not something Nintendo have been able to get consistently for over 20 years.

As for the NX thing, nothing you're saying there is rooted in fact. Unless you have some source you're not telling us about, like a surefire leak from 4chan or something.
