You may be right.
Nx being a phone and a console are neither counter to what Iwata stated nor is it inconsistent with the patents. I support this theory as possible.

Smartphone could be part of NX platform, but only smartphone and no console or handheld, isn't possible

Interesting theory - although if it is a smartphone, I think it would  more likely be as one of a suite of 'NX' devices.

My gut is telling me that NX will be a home console / handheld hybrid, where there's a console with controllers that have screens (like the gamepad, but more elegant and ergonomic) and these controllers can be purchased separately and used as portable handheld devices.

It can be both. So yeah. Or rather all three.  Its hard to imagine that Nintendo,  a company in a region being dominated by mobile phones hasn't considered the possibility and they have already alluded to the uniqueness of their new system. 

Mobile is going to be used for synergy, as advertisements, they are not going to release a mobile device.
For reference, just look how all the previous PS mobiles have failed.
