Forums - Gaming - Anyone remember Maplestory?

If you don't know, Maplestory is a 2D scroller RPG made by Wizet/Nexon. It was probably one of the most popular f2p RPG's made.

Of course, it died down. Considering it was made 11 years ago, it's not surprising.

I decided to try the game, to see how different it is(and to see if it was even alive). It surprisingly still receives upgrades, new classes, etc. Since I haven't played the game in years, it really surprised me how they still give proper treatment to the game. As I played the game yesterday, I had a lot of memories of when the game was huge.

12/22/2016- Made a bet with Ganoncrotch that the first 6 months of 2017 will be worse than 2016. A poll will be made to determine the winner. Loser has to take a picture of them imitating their profile picture.

it had a lot of flaws that i hate seeing in MMO's. the UI was too small and too complicated. the quest system was far beyond confusing. and there was no real story. it was basically go in, hack a bunch of mobs, and then leave after an hour when you get bored.

If you're wondering, they renewed quest and story, UI changed too. Now there is a proper story and so on.

That doesn't change the fact that the game itself is the forefather of modern microtransaction structure though, and because they added too many classes in, balance is kinda wacky as far as I know.

Rash, Kim Wu, Arbiter, and Tusk with additional characters rolling out as the season progresses.
