The writer of the article failed to understand that this promotion is made so that you get the consoles sharing costs between friends or family members. You're not getting two +1 all for yourself. >_>

This is what happends... when you stockpile to much of something that wont sell.

I dont think retailers where expecting the PS4 to outsell the Xbox One more than 8 : 1 ratio.
