Forums - Gaming - The Division on Xbox One uses dynamic resolution scaling

Yet another sign pointing at Xbox One being weaker, but I think this is still a neat solution. It uses a better resolution whenever possible, and I imagine it's easier to notice the resolution when there isn't too much happening in the game. Like the article notes, I'd really like this as a backup solution in many games even on PC. I'd much rather have stable framerate than stable resolution. That said, the best solution is to optimize the games to need neither, but sometimes it's just not possible or it's a bad idea (sacrificing resolution just for a few graphically demanding scenes, for example, would be just terrible).

nice, but this is a PC game if you want good visuals.
At least they understand framerate is more important than resolution.

It sounds like they implemented it really well

thats a good thing.

l <---- Do you mean this glitch Gribble?  If not, I'll keep looking.

I am on the other side of my sig....am I warm or cold?

Marco....

Is this really news? We knew this for a while. The Xbox One had blurr/weak textures in comparison, so it was obvious that it was using a dynamic resolution to claim parity.

Just look at the sign. The PS4 version is legible and the Xbox One's version is blurry.

So basically another instance where the Xbox One isn't up to par. I'm becoming increasingly confused about Ubisoft and EA's games, they continuingly say that resolution and graphics don't matter but they go to such far lengths for "1080p" and parity. Last gen they didn't seem to be so concerned with parity....Wonder why.

Don't care. Getting for Xbox One. Hardly a difference.

Smart move.

Minor drops in resolution won't harm the experience anywhere near as much as lurching below 30fps.

Also, as expected, The Division does not look as good as those bullshots back in the day claimed.

dynamic resolution is certainly 1000% better than framerates dropping well below 30fps, so I think that's something that will see much use in future games, probably on PS4 aswell

For X1 and consoles in general that makes sense and works for them. With PC I adjust settings to how I want my game to run along with my hardware which isn't static like a consoles is.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
