Its must be getting harder to be a game developer as the time passes in regards of your creational freedom.
You get more hardware power, but you also get more limited artistically.

No one is limiting anyone. If they choose to limit their design by giving into these social terrorists, it's on them. They can do what they want and say fuck you.

Yes let's hope so.

But it's more difficult than it sounds. Because pressure builds up, and at some point you get a phone from some one from the board of directors. That's how slowly but surely things change. Not all changes are bad of course. But some really are.

There's no pressure here. The writer is just giving her suggestions, whether Square Enix would use them or not is up to them, and only them.

The problem with feminists is they confuse sexualization with sexism, willingly a lot of times. Just because something is sexualized doesn't mean it's sexist. Sexist means the creator has a real disdain for women and feels they are far lesser beings than men. And men are also sexualized to appeal to women. Another thing they confuse is acknowledging the difference in both sexes with seeing them as a lesser being. This all results in them not only wanting sexy female characters changed, but also female characters with little to no flaws, which really just makes those "perfect" women characters boring.

Of course, I love it when they illustrate their hypocrisy. Especially when one of them who is chubby poses nude or in skimpy outfits, and are labeled "brave." Yet a slim woman poses the same way, it's sexism. Really this is more about attacking other woman who some men may find more attractive, as well stroking their own ego. They want their own appearance to be what's labeled the ultimate beauty, instead understanding there are different people who have different tastes in women.  Edit: There are also those who just use these issues for attention and financial gain.

I don't think anything in this game is particularly sexist. Killing Cloud, that's just the most ridiculous thing I've heard in weeks lol.

What they chose to do with them, stop ascribing all writing to males.  That's sexist.

And, you know, I hate to break it to you, but not every woman (or man) stands up to their abuser.  Many of them do not.  It's a very believable character flaw, one exhibited by many people.

Hey while we're at it, let's have Sephiroth not be a psychopath, maybe Shinra can be a nice company, with a nice President...oh wait, those are all guys, they're supposed to be bad.  Sorry I forgot how this works.

My bad, I'm sorry. It was a slip back there, I'll try not to make the same mistake again.

As for the abusing thing, that's true, but hence the more reason to make such change in this game. Think about it. Final Fantasy is a very well-known game (franchise) outside the gaming circle. So imagine that in this remake, Shera actually does stand against the abusing partner. Word of mouth goes around. Doesn't that send a powerful message? The fact that you can actually face your abusive partner and put a stop to it? It would actually encourage people to take action in the real world. It's a win/win situation.

If you'd like to have a different Sephiroth or have Shinra as a nice company in the Remake, write about it. You're a fan, would you like those changes? Ask for them. I'd actually support you, you know. You're looking at this whole opinion from the author as if you were excluded or offended, but you can (and should) demand for change into the final product if you feel like it. Shinra as a nice company would give a nice twist, to be honest.

Don't apologize, it's not necessary.  I knew what you meant, and you'd used the proper terminology up to that point.  I was just messin' with ya.

I'm pretty sure police will tell you to leave.  Standing up to your abuser is ill-advised on a number of levels(Psychologically, physically, ability), as you really have no idea what the response is going to be.  Say nothing, just leave, go to the police or seek help from family/friends etc...  I really don't think it's wise to send any message other than that.

As far as those two characters are concerned, I mean, Cid is described as a 'warm-hearted' old pilot who's rough around the edges and basically had his dreams shattered.  And her failing is that she's 'overly caring' (not submissive).  She feels she owes Cid her life and crushed his dreams, write the story so he doesn't beat her.  He can still be a dick to her for X amt of time, and then feel like a super dick later when he finds out the truth, without hitting her.

Honestly, I have no problems with the game.  It doesn't bother me.  I've read, seen and listened to far, far worse.  A Final Fantasy game is nowhere on the list of offensive/dangerous things that need addressing.  What I'd like?  These people who could probably contribute to the industry, to actually contribute, instead of trying to force change in other people's work.

Heh. People need to relax with these things, I agree we need more diverse character designs though, not every women is a super model and chances are that the prettiest ones devote a lot of their attention to that fact.

They don't all have to be hot. To please them, how about keeping Tifa hot while making Aerith and Yuffie ugly, while making Shera a man-beater.

Ah, but that's where you're wrong, there's no pleasing an extreme feminist. Everyone knows that.

I'm now filled with determination.

People should just stop demanding and complaining about other people's artistic views and make their own game with their own moral standards

ugh, people really need to stop reading too much in to things.

Not everything is sexist/racist etc.

You're just saying that because she's a woman.
