Forums - Gaming - Digital sales on consoles grow faster than any other! (PC DATA TOO)

Good news for the market.

http://www.pcgamer.com/pc-digital-sales-outpace-mobile-reaching-61-billion-in-2015/

"Market research firm Superdata says the digital games market in 2015 was worth $61 billionacross all platforms, an increase of eight percent over 2014. Digital sales on consoles saw the greatest year-over-year jump at 34 percent, but the big dog in the digital pack was none other than League of Legends, with 2015 revenues of $1.6 billion dollars."

More info unrelated to my topic by request :

“PC-based gaming—consisting of free-to-play MMOs, subscription-based games like World of Warcraft, social games and PC downloadable games—earns over $32 billion annually, well above the $25.1 billion generated by mobile games,”

That's because consoles are the only area in gaming that actually still needs to grow. Everyone else is already with it.

Uhh you used one paragraph from a article that was more about PC gaming digital sales o.O

I used the bit I and most on here care about.  Consoles.  And they're growing faster than any other.

What do you want included?  I'll edit it in.

Pretty sure the thing most people on this site care about is overall gaming sales - not just console sales.

Also the whole entire topic from the article or you know.....the name of the article since isnt taking a quote from a article and renaming it wouldnt it be classified as plagarism which is against the rules?

I think you need to Google plagiarism.  I've quoted the opening paragraph from it which contains the significant news that console sales are growing very fast digitally.

I didn't mean nobody cares about non console stuff but most of us on here are console guys so I went with that.

The article has been given its credit and I've made a thread based on a significant portion of it.  Nothing wrong.

Now I'll ask you again.  Seeing as you really want some stuff included what do you want from further than the article included in the OP?  [you know the info they thought to be less important than the info they put in the most important paragraph (P1)]

Just tell me and I'll put it in.

I still think that´s way to low of a growth rate on consoles. The big three need to rethink their strategies in order to incentivise more people to buy digitally.

Well they all make more profit selling a full priced game digitally then at retail so they could easily sell the digital copies cheaper.  That would drive the growth even faster.

I've a feeling Sony and Microsoft don't do this though because retailers would be pissed.  But that's just a hunch.

Considering that digital sales on PC & mobile have been prevalent for years, this is hardly news. Consoles were late to expand on digital sales, so the fact that they're finally starting to will obviously make it the fastest growing platform now.

And I already answered your question.

Put the proper title of the article alongside your title (since you feel the news posting warrants specific mention of the console market from a PC article) and put in the information about PC and mobile gaming that is mentioned - not the entirety but as a Topic maker - you should know what vital info to put in the first place rather than putting incomplete information in a half-baked thread.

Or if you want me to I can go ahead and make the thread as it should have been.

I've put the most important info in.  People do this all the time.  I'll go through it and edit in the info they posted further down the article.

not to downplay, But they are growing faster than any other PERCENTAGE wise. I would hazard a guess that this is due to consoles having such a low digital base while PC has a very high one giving the PC not much room to grow digitally.

Yeah..no you didnt, you made a half-baked thread mentioning a sentence or two from a article that was about something more.

No I read an article.  Found the first and main paragraph of it interesting and made a thread about it.

And I've edited in the unrelated info to my thread that you've specially requested.  So cheer up :)
