Forums - Gaming - The Orange Box (PS3) Framerate issues are lies, the cake as well

So i just finished playing Orange box. I played Half-life 2, episode one, episode 2 and Portal.

And the only frame rate issue i ever had was one and that was in Half-life 2. Even though reviews said that there are the worst frame rate issues in episode two. Thats just bullcrap. I never had a problem with episode two. People Buy this game. Maybe the loading screens are two or 5 seconds longer, and Gabe Newell said ps3 sucks, but this game is so awesome. BUY IT, and you will get cake.

Thoughts of other people who bought Orange Box (PS3)?

I played through the game as well, but it's important to remember that there are only framerate issues at certain sections or when certain things happen. Simply because you didn't have any issues on your play through doesn't mean that noone has ever had issues. Perhaps you didn't have the exact angle on the exact event they did that started the issues, or perhaps the problem is with the disc, or can be exacerbated by the environment the PS3 is in while playing the game. In essence I'm saying, probably mainly to Leo, that simply because you and I did not see issues doesn't mean that they don't exist.

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence, to quote Boondocks.

...

well the new bug fixes should have solved minor framerate shutters as the memory leaks have been fixed.

I don't know about framerates which have so far been pretty decent. But the loading times are annoying. Especially in some areas where you die a lot of times. In Episode1 there was a platform where you died when big metal-parts fell on you. Had the loading screen 20times and I was livid. They obviously never heard about caching.

OffTopic: Is it just me or is aiming with the analog sticks much better in the OrangeBox than for example in Resistance?

There are framerate issues.

It took me all of five minutes playing the game to realise it.

The framerate issues aren't very bad however. The image doesn't badly tear, or horribly jar between frames. It does slow down slighty as you spin around, and if there's too much going on on-screen at once the framerate drops considerably.

You can live with the minor framerate issues though. The Orange box is probably going to be my next PS3 game purchase. It's either that or Unreal Tournament III.

Nice. Will I enjoy this game even though I didn't clock HL? Is there some kind of plot compilation of original HL? People keep talking about awesomness of HL but pretty outdated graphics and framerate issues crossed out this title from my buying list... Now with all this things said I will pick it up.

I have it, but I have only played Portal and Team Fortress. Both are great (and yes, there is cake at the end of Portal) :)

The only problem is the loading time... Didn't felt any framerate slowdons neither.

Actually, "Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence" is a Donald Rumsfeld quote.  It's the best he could come up with when people started to ask him why he never found WMD in Iraq.  Comedy gold, no doubt, but not the quote I'd want to use to make a non-satirical point.
