Forums - Nintendo - Why hasn't Nintendo made a Skylanders type Amiibo game?

Knowing Slow-tendo, they're probably working on it... just taking a good while on it. If anything, we may see it some time on the NX...

It's inevitable at this point.

I do agree though, I just want a game where I can have Shulk hang out with Inkling Girl, Yarn Yoshi, and Cloud Strife already.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Probably waiting for the NX. Honestly, I think Amiibo-centric games should replace the Wii-line of games.

Saving it for the NX? My guess is that they were testing the waters of a Amiibo centric game with Amiibo Festival but of course, that is not the game people had in mind :p

They might shoot themselves in the foot by making wayyy too many different Amiibos by the time this game comes out :p

I think they are being brilliant about it. More and more amiibo's have sold. Most people that I know that have amiibo's are obsessed with collecting them (I myself have 5). Eventually, when the game launches, there will be so many people that look at their amiibo's and convince themselves that they want that game because of all their amiibos.

It's far easier to sell a game that people have all the parts for in advance than to sell a game before the parts come out or at the same time and then tell them they have to buy additional things to unlock the actual game. The prior makes it feel like an amazing deal (I already own those amiibos so all I need is the game!) but the second one makes it feel like I'm being robbed.

Wasn´t a rumour lately that they were already working on a title like that? I can´t remember where I saw it.
It makes a lot of sense and it would be a shame if they don´t do it.
What I´d love to see is a full game (not mini games please) and the option to play as any of the amiibo you want. I know it would be very difficult, and maybe they could start with only a few of them, but I would love to play as King Dedede, Wario, Charizard, Chibi Robo, Green Squid, Pink Yoshi, Megaman... They would sell millions of that games, and if not, at least they would sell millions of amiibo, as that would be the thing that would made me buy dozens of amiibo and I´m sure people would jump as well.
Right now, amiibo are only for decoration for me, so that would be great.

i think they will finish with Smash Amiibo then think of somethign else. Many games we were expecting Amiibo from had nothing.... so let's see - maybe this will be based on cards amiibo and not actual figures.

but amiibo kart amiibo brawl and amiibo sport are great ideas

Switch!!!

Amiibo came out just over a year ago, I think Nintendo probably would have wanted to wait and see if they're successful before basing a decent budget game on it.

As others have said it is probably in the works as we speak. Beyond that Nintendo wouldn't just copy Skylanders, they would spend a fair bit of time testing out what would work best for their IPs and designing a quality game experience around that.

It's a matter of time. It's a no-brainer. I guess they're waiting for NX release. This or they're dumber than I thought.

Don't underestimate how stubborn Nintendo is. Nothing is a no-brainer for them. If they wait too long, they'll miss the opportunity.
