Forums - Nintendo - [Prediction] Retro Studios' Game Is Going To Be A Launch Window Title for Nintendo's Next Console

Maybe not at launch exactly, but definitely a few months after launch. I think it should be a few months after launch so we don't have a bad game drought.

I can almost gurantee it. If not at launch than a few months after launch.

I really hope that, whatever Retro is doing, be a original IP in the veins of a popular genre, being a action adventure in the veins of Uncharted or Tomb Raider, or a western RPG like the Witcher 3 or Skyrim, for 2 reasons:To Nintendo expand its Portifolio of games and genres(hope that Nintendo learned with Splatoon that making new IPs may be higly vantagious) and also to prove those filthy gamers that dont play Nintendo games, that the console is not just about family friendly games and mario games or "kid games" or whatever labels people give to Nintendo games, but that it can provide for every taste.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Nah... Retro's next game will be a Wii U game. Just wait and see.

Assuming it launches holidays 2016, I think we might see it at the end of the launch window or as a summer release.

If I got to choose at least.. :P

If Zelda U will be available as NX launch title (and I think it will be), then Retro's game won't be available at launch, even if it is already complete by that time. The reason being that spacing out releases is much better for momentum, so having a new Retro game in February/March instead of November makes a lot more sense.

True, I should've used "launch window" because that's what I meant to say. And, yeah... I can see it releasing until March at max to keep the momentum going strong.

I'll update the thread/title.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Could be new Metroid, i guarantee you.

I would absolutely love if this was the case, but it's very unlikely. Retro basically confirmed that they are working on a different IP, something they haven't done before. Plus, all the talks at Nintendo about Metroid show that they are a bit lost about it's future (still deciding which way to take).

Yeah, also the backlash they got from Other M and Federation Force probably has a lot of people wondering if there is anything they can do with the franchise without pissing its already small fanbase off.

I personally don't know what Retro Studios could be doing, if you told me they were helping finish Zelda Wii U or just working on middleware stuff for Nintendo I would believe it. Despite their talent and success I get the feeling Nintendo really doesn't know what to do with them due to internal politics and cultural issues.

I would REALLY hope they were working on a sequel to Eternal Darkness or F-Zero myself.
