Europe might save it from beeing a flop , but the fact that in Japan PES 08 for Wii sold less than the PSP version , wich system presumably has an awfull attach rate .... well its just not a good sign IMO . I wouldent be surprised if the PSP version would sell more lifetime .

yeah well lets not 4get that PSP lacks the good games, and PSP is the only handheld that provides a decent soccer game... so this should sell well overall in the PSP.
On the wii, well lets hope that word catches on, and many will realize how good an experience this game can provide!
i just preodered mine from game, should be coming in about a week
can't wait at all, its got online functions as well i hear so it should be good. haven't seen an ad for it yet tho. but myt see one when i watch the utd liverpool game 2moro

Funny, I haven't played smash since PES entered my Wii. Who would've thought that was even possible? Wait til you get your lan hooked up and try the online......addictive!
If this game sells good to very good, it will be a great achievement for the Wii. I say this because it came out much later than the PS2/PS3/360 versions, which means many football maniacs already had the opportunity to buy it for those consoles, and most people didn't even know the Wii version would also exist. It didn't do well in Japan, and I'm guessing that was precisely the reason.
That said, I still think it will do better than in Japan. Since the video games market is in expansion in Europe, there should be more Wii owners who don't have a PS2 in Europe than in Japan. Sales as bad as Japan's would be disappointing.

were japan sales really that bad, i think its in the 70k region, and thats not too bad for a multiplat title that came out 4months late, altough it does seem disappointing because its such a revolutionary version. but when u put it into context its not bombing. i reckon this game should pass 500k steadily, which would be good enough numbers for konami

I'm not a football fan in anyway, shape or form but there are very favorable reviews for this game, specifically the controls. Not that I will be getting it but it could be a major factor in capturing a audience especially if it gets some high profile advertising which it needs..

I say it won't... People have already bought 08 on other systems and this version in 4 months too late. 09 just might make a million though if it's also a lot different then the X360/PS3-versions... |
You assume here, that most people who own a Wii also own either a 360, PS3 or PS2. I doubt that.
But disappointing Japanese first month sales seem to prove your non-million seller statement right. It all depends on "Others" now, especially on Europe. It will not get even close to the excellent PS2 sales, that's for sure already with low Japanes sales. But I hope it makes at least around 750k worldwide.
