I wish you guys a good time. I have gone throught it a couple of years ago when the game launched for 3DS.

It's a great Tales game. Good characters, good world fantasy, good story and good combat. Its up there with Symphonia and Vesperia as the pinnacles of the Tales series. Enjoy!

Haha, I'm liking Mike's style of writing. It's like Luke's daily journal writings he has to do every night. Clever way of doing it. Though I am surprised you like Luke. I wanted to strangle him in the beginning... o_o

Thanks , I like Luke because I find myself agreeing with him in a lot of situations (including that Mieu is annoying ), plus I like his "screw everyone and everything" attitude, something I haven't seen in a protagonist ever and it's very refreshing.

Hmm, that is true. There aren't many main characters like Luke, if any... o:

Seventh session of The Abyss: Grinding in the haunted house.

------------------------------------------

After Master Van gives the team all the appropiate doccuments, they cross the border. They must go to the docks to get on a boat that will leave Luke at home. But... Surprise! The docks have been attacked! The boat is on fire! And the only person capable of repairing it! And Arrieta is taking him hostage until Master Ion and Luke go to some sort of abandoned castle, the place where Luke was found seven years ago. Everyone assumes that this is a trap, but they go anyway. Master Van seems angry at this events, seeming that Asch is organizing something behind his back, but I don't trust Van anyway.

So we go to the mansion annndddddd... I inmediately lose two members of the team. Either I fight really bad (which is true) or I'm underleveled (which is also true). So I'm going to gring for a while in the castle. The inn of the Kaitzur Naval Port is free, so I'll be fighting monsters for a while. I'll try to have everyone to level 15. I smell a boss fight soon.

Short update, but that's what grinding does. Cue the training montage!

Eighth session of The Abyss: Battling animals at the top of the castle.

------------------------------------------

After my grinding session is completed, we go back to the Choral Castle. It's a spooky enough place, with ghosts (that all look like duskull and dusclops, by the way) and moving statues all over the place. We have to find two orbs that, when combined, they make a purple orb to open a door. So we go looking for those orbs, grinding on the spirits and other enemies, opening chests with tresaures...

The team finds an enourmus structure inside of the castle. It looks very advanced tech, and none of team members seems to know what it is. The keyword here being seem. Jade "seems" to not know what it is, but he's obviously just hiding the fact he knows that machine. It makes him very nervous, and everyone sees that. Guy the guy starts talking about the possibility of this machine being related to Luke's kidnapping, when suddenly a mouse strartles Annise, who goes and grabs Guy. Guy takes some time to process what just happen, and then he has a panic attack. A really bad panic attack, everyone is shocked to see this. I'm surprised too, what the hell could have caused Guy the guy to act this way. He tells the group he lost a part of his memories too, but in his case, it's just an instant. Because neither Jade nor Guy want to talk about the machine or Guy's past, we continue with a very tense atmosphere around the team.

The team spots one of the big yellow ligurs climbing the stairs to the top of the castle, and one of those heall-all save points appear. Oh, boy. Bossfight incoming. Luke and Anisse quickly go up the stairs, and inmediately get captured by a giant blue bird. Seems that Arietta can control more than ligurs. The bird goes to take Ion, but Anisse saves him. Ion and Arietta discuss some Order of the Lorelei backstory, and the rest of the team arrives. I love Tear's reaction here. She sees Luke being dragged by the bird and, with the biggest deadpan expression on her face, she says Luke should be more careful. Everyone is thinking it too, Tear! Luke is grabbed by Dist, the gentleman on a chair (that's the only thing he's done so far) and he goes off.

Luke wakes up strapped onto that machine from before, and he hears part of a conversation between Sync and Dist. Apparently there's some sort of perfect creation (is Luke a robot? Twist?) and Sync says Van should punish Asch for being sloppy. So Van is with them! I knew it! Dist goes "to analyze this data! huehuehuehue". After Luke tries to ask Sync some questions... Guy the Guy appears! He takes a DVD away from Sync and fights with him. He hits him and takes away his mask (you were right Cone, it was a mask). Guy is shocked, becuse he recognizes who Sync is behind the mask, and Sync takes advantage of that and runs away. When the team reunites, Guy gives the fon DVD (it has fonic information apparently) to Tear, so she could take a look later.

They go back to the roof, and Luke uses Mieu's fire to block the blue bird. After all are on the roof, they fight. And it ends really quick. I overleveled. I fight the yellow ligur while everyone else fights Arietta. The ligur dies fast, and I change to the blue bird (I thought it was one of those bosses that you need to end the minions before going for the main boss), but while I was fighting the bird, Arietta is defeated. Well, now I have a decent level advantage against the enemies.

By the way, there's a green bar under the HP and SP bars, and I don't know how to use that. Did I skip that on accident, or I haven't reach its tutorial yet?

After defeating Arietta, Jade tries to execute her. Ion doesn't want to kill her, but luckily Van appears and says he will take her as a prissioner. Luke, you herd the other two bad guy talking about how Van was with them, do something! But he doesn't, and they rescue the engineer. They go back to the docks, repair the ship, and go back to Malkuth territory.

We take the ship, a real one this time. Luke starts hearing voices again, which is really unnerving. Do not ingnore it, Luke, you aren't going insane, you already ARE! But anyway, he talks with everyone on the team, Tear says something of Luke possibly being a seventh fonist, Anisse teases Luke more, Ion wants to bring peace, Guy talks about the good old days... And, out of nowhere, the voices take over Luke's body! What the hell! And they seem to want him to jump out of the boat! Someone call a doctor and an exhorcist!! Luckily, Van is there and saves him from the voices. He tells Luke that maybe the reason for him being recluded on the castle is because he might be one of the most powerful fonists ever. Luke is angry about that, but he plans to be a hero so they leave him free.

They arrive at the desert town of Chesedonia. Van goes with Arietta (he has her on his arms, he doesn't even tie her up, is nobody seeing how he is the villain??) while the team goes to the town. They come across a group of thives called the Dark Wing, possibly the bandits at the beginning of the game. I'll save here, more game for another day.

Ninth session of The Abyss: Waluigi is rich and lives in Chesedonia.

------------------------------------------

After a night or rest, we go to Astor's mansion. And dammm, that place is gorgeous, prettiest place in the game so far. the team meets with Astor, one of the leaders of Chesedonia and a very successful merchant. He is an ally off the Order of Lorelei because the country keeps its independence thanks to their influence. And also, Astor looks like Waluigi. Who knew he had a talent on the trade market? His brother must be so proud.

Waluigi time aside, Astor gets the team a DVD reader for the fonic disc, and they manage to translate its content. The team thanks Astor and leave for the ship. But suddenly, Sync attacks Guy! He takes the disc and brands him with some sort of fonic curse. The team run to the boat and manage to escape. Sync can't follow them on the sea, but others can...

The team talks on the ship about the contents of the disc. Once again, it's fonic stuff neither Luke nor myself can understand. But it seems Anisse is teasing Tear a bit about her behaviour with Luke.

The team gets interrumped when soldiers enter the ship and start attacking. Jade suspects it could be someone (it turns out to be right), but now the team has to chase a robot. What? Apparently a little toy robot stole a piece of a fonic artefact, and we have to get it back while the boat is swinging side to side due to the attack. We get the thin, the robot swears revenge and falls to the sea. The team gets attacked by the bad guy on a chair, Dust, and inmediately gets mocked by everyone on the team. The man doesn't impose that much respect. Bosstime! Didn't expect a bossfight now, neither the surprising difficulty of the match! I barely survived the attacks of his pink-machine of ultimate destruction. But once he is defeated, he goes out like Team Rocket.

The team arrives to Baticul, and we meet some generals. We have to go now to the castle, but that will have to wait. I just downloaded Pokemon Yellow (o Pokemon Amarillo), and I have to be the best like noone never was once again.

Tenth session of The Abyss: Luke is finally home! Will he avoid the war, or will he cause it?.

------------------------------------------

The team finally reaches Baticul, the capital of light. The city is huge, being built on some sort of crater made by a fonic device. I explore the city and find a lot of good stores in here. And DAMN, the products thereare amazing, but incredibly expensive. One sword has 8 times pore attack than my rapier, but it¡s worth more than all I own. Maybe Luke asks his uncle for money to get equipment (after all, he is the king of Baticul). There's also a closed colisseum, but for now it will have to wait. We inmediately meet some people, which I assume are the thieves from Chesedonia. The team doesn't recognize them, they must have Team Rocket powers. They seemed to be scheeming something, but I'm sure it won't be that important. Guy gets attacked by a group of fangirls, that apparently enjoy the terrified reactions of Guy. That is so disrespectful.

Anyway, we reach the castle, and the guards say that the King and Mohs are debating important politics in the thone room. Luke, like the tactical genius he is, decides to interrupt the meeting and accuse Mohs of lying to start a war. Smooth. Also, odd that Jade or Tear didn't just stop him. Luckily neither Mohs nor the king find Luke that annoying (you have to understand, sir, he hears voices in his head. All the time), and he informs Luke that his mother is really sick. The team meets with Duke Fabre, who seems really interested in knowing where Van is. Fabre tells the team to relax and get confortable, but I have to explore the castle once again. I find some money on a drawer, Guy's fangirls are here too (they are some of the maidens of the palace), Tear likes the cute clothes of the maids (¿?¿?)...

We go meet Natalia, the king's daugter. She's really angry with Luke due to his sudden dissapearence. Apparently Luke confessed his love for her when he was a kid, and Natalia wants him to remember it so they can get married (but if the king is Luke's uncle, and Natalia is the king's daughter, doesn't that mean they are cousins? I suppose royal inbreeding applies here). She informs the team that the king thinks Master Van is the one behind the dissapearence of Luke, and he may be executed.

We go see Luke's mother, and she's really relieved that her son is ok. She talks a bit with Tear and forgives her for all that happened. The team goes to rest for the next day, and Luke even tells Tear she shouldn't worry about his mothe's health, because she is really frail as it is. Wow, actual decent human emotions coming out of Luke, I'm impressed.

The next day, a maid comes to wake up Luke. "Another beautiful day today, isn't it?" Wow, my sense of foreshadowing is tingling. The whole city is in danger. She brings a message from Natalia, asking him to come to the castle. Luke goes and finds Malth and Teartalking about Luke. Once on the throne room, the king informs Luke about the signment of thepeace treaty between Kimlaska and Malkuth. Malkuth needs help managing the sudden appearenceof toxic gass on its territory, the miasma is killing the mining city of Akzeuriuth. And also, Luke is an ambassador now! Because making the guy that entered in the middle of a diplomatic reunion, insulted some important dignataries and has not abandoned the safety of his castle in years is absolutely qualified to be an ambassador. They say that his actions may save the live of Van, so he accepts. What could possibly go wrong? Tear reads part of the prophecy scroll and all think part of that message is Luke.

Luke goes downstairs and sees Van. Van inmediately asks him to join the Order of the Oracle Knights. He then says he's the one who kidnapped Luke years ago! He's so obviously the bad guy, how come nobody seems to detect otherwise!!?? Will he accept the deal, or will he do the right thing and turn him in again? More of this and more, on the next Tales of the Abyss update.

Finally got a chance to play the game, so let's continue, if you haven't check part 4 do it

                                                                                                         Part 5

After a quick rest on Kaitzur we went to Charol Castle, unfortunately once there none of the memories I forgot came back. Inside the castle we found a weird door with some strange locks, lucky for everyone I figured out how to unlock them (I'm so smart). Once inside very weird things happened, first we saw a huge machine that shocked Jade a little bit (he knew about the machine but he didn't tell us because he wanted to be 100% sure) then Anise got scared because of a mouse and jumped onto Guy's back, he was so scared he threw her off (I know Guy fears women but this was different). After he threw Anise he told us his family was murdered a long time ago, he doesn't remember much but he claims something happened that day that makes him fear women.

I wasn't long before we found out Arietta was on the roof. I ran there leaving everyone behind but she was ready, one of her monster knocked me out. When I woke up I was on the machine we saw and I overheard Sync talking about my "synchronize fon slots" or something like that. Sync was about to leave with a disc but Guy and the other came to the rescue (I had everything under control), he was able to take the disc from Sync and his mask as well (I think he saw Sync's face, but I didn't ask him).

We went back to the roof to face Arietta again, she tried the same trick but now I was prepared and with the help of Mieu (once again that obnoxious little blue monster was actually useful) I prevented the monster's surprise attack, she didn't waste any time and attacked us. Our strategy was simple, we first took the two monster and the we focused on Arietta and of course being me the one that planned such masterful strategy it worked flawlessly. After we took her down Jade once again tried to kill her but Ion interfered, convincig Jade to spare Arietta's live. Master Van showed up and he agreed with Ion, in fact he took Arietta with him (he was a little mad I disobeyed him).

We recued the chief engineer that was kidnapped and we returned to the Kaitzur military port where the ship we were going to use to get home was being repaired, it was almost done so before it was ready we went to meet Count Almandine (the one in charge of the port). We introduce ourselves and I asked the guy if he could deliver a message to my father in regard of my companions (after all Jade and Ion asked for my help), he agreed to send a pidgeot with the message. It was late and the ship wasn't ready so we spent the night on the port.

The next morning our sea journey finally begun. Obviously it was my first time on the sea (Mieu's too, he even tried to talk to me about it but I kicked him as soon as he started, no one care about him or his boring stories) and I felt a bit dizzy, It didn't help that teh weird voice I've been listenig since I was kidnapped started talking on my head. A soldier told me Master Van wanted to see me so I looked for him.

I came across Tear and we had a little conversation about the seventh fonon and fonist (the reason why we teleported from my manor to the woods), she was mad I didn't know about any of this thing but I explained her that I when I lost my memorie I spent most of the time learning all the basic stuff about me and my family. That actually worked because Tear started acting nicer to me, she even apologized and told me about the seventh fonist. Basically seventh fonist are people that can use seventh fonon (the new fonon that was discovered after the basic six).

Afte Tear was done I continued my search for Master Van.When I reached the deck the same voice I've been hearing came back, but this time it was different because it took control over my body and I even destroyed part of the ship. I was really scared but thankfully Master Van helped me snap out of whatever was happening to me. After I calmed down he explained what happened to me, turns out I did a hyperresonance (the same thing that Tear and I did when we teleported). A hyperresonance is something very powerful and happens when two seventh fonists use their seven fonon at the same time however I can do a hyperresonance by myself, that's why the Malkuth empire kidnapped me and the reason I wasn't allowed to leave the manor.

It may seem like my parents were trying to protect me but the reality is they kept me in the manor so they could use my as a weapon in case a war started, I was mad and dissapointed when I understood the reality of my situation but Master Van made me realize I don't have to be a weapon of mass destruction, I can be a hero if I stop this inmminet war (now I have a reason to accomplish this mission, and it's all thanks to my Master, that's why I love him so much!).

We arrived at Chesedonia, Master Van had to go take care of Arietta but he said he would see us at Baticul later. We explored the town and found very interesting merchandise (after all Chesedonia is known as the "center of trade") but I don't have money to buy anything. As we were walking a cute girl approached me (why wouldn't she, I'm handsome!), I had everything under control but then everyone else scared her off (just when I was about to get lucky with that lady). She was about to leave but Tear stopped her and demanded her to give me my wallet back (she actually took it, and there I was thinking I had a chance with her...), she tried to run away but Tear took her down (she is so badass, too bad she is annoying or else...). The thief identified herself as a "dark wing" (whe finally saw some of them), random guys came to help her and she left.

Moving on from that situation, we met with this dude Astor (the merchant that managed to build Chesdonia and got it recognized as an autonomous state) because he has a machine that can analyze the disc Guy took from Sync. After the analysis was done we took the result and since they were pretty long we decided to read them on the ship. As we were leaving Astor's palace Sync came back to attack us, he took the disc back and hurt Guy but fortunately we were able to hold on to the analysis result. We made it to the ship without Sync chasing us and there we started talking about the results, large part of them had information on isofons (when two things share the same fonon frequency) and who they could be replicated with the help of some tech called "fomicry".

As we kept talking some oracle knights attacked the ship, we took down the scrubs and we met their leader Dist (one of the six god-generals). He and Jade have a history, not that it matters because we ended up beating him pretty quickly, plus he wanted to steal the results of the disc but Jade had already memorized the content. Dist left and after a while we finally arrived to Baticul!

Once in the port two general were going to take us to the manor but I told them I could do that by myself. Before arriving to the castle we found those dark wing again in the city, even if they are just some low profile thiefs we should keep an eye on them.  On the castle we found out my Uncle was talking to Grand Maestro Mohs (the dude that's trying to start the war), we entered without permission but I wasn't gonna let this Grand Maestro fill my uncle's head with lies. I interrupted Mohs speech and Ion was able to give my uncle the letter, he said he would look at it latter so in the meantime we should rest, he also told me my mom was sick.

On our way to the manor we ran into father, he confronted Tear (because she is the reason I dissapeared from the manor) and he even said if she was involved in his brother's "plan". No one was sure what he was talking about but he was very serious about the stuff he said. I have a bad feeling about this but right now I have to rest in my room, I need to see my mother and my uncle to learn about his resolution in regards to the letter.

Eleventh session of The Abyss: What did the factory even make?.

------------------------------------------

After the conversation between Luke and the obviously evil Master Van, we go to organize the ambassador travel. Van, always thinking in the "best for Luke", says the team should go crossing the dessert in disguise, to avoid attaks from the God Generals. Master Van would go ALONE ON A BOAT. WHY ON EARTH DOES NOBODY SEE HIM HIS EVIL WAYS??? Stop building up his betrayal, we know he's evil from the beginning! Anyway, the team prepares for the travel, when they realize ION HAS BEEN KIDNAPPED! Was noone watching over one of the most important people in he world, neccesary to prevent a war? The effectivity of the team suddenly went from hero to zero. So they inmediately go to save Ion from whoever has kidnapped him, waisting no time... oh, wait, they go to a dojo first to introduce a new mechanic. I know this is not very positive, but in just a few minutes every decision they take seems to be wrong. Do something Jade, you know better! You are a necromancer, after all. A guy tried to kill him on the docks because his brother died fighting against his unit, and the team don't know how to react to this rumours. But anyway...

They decide that, in order to go undercover, they have to get out of the city through the old and abandoned factory. Once we're inside, we see that the place is huge. This is a really expansive structure. There are a lot of pipes and lifts to move around the factory, there's enough oil to power a major city for weeks, and there seems to bee sludge monsters too. But what did the owners even do there? Outside of what I've mentioned, there is no machinary left. If they took out all of their tools and machines, why did they leave all that fuel, or left the electricity running to power up the lifts? And if there are dangerous monsters so close to the city, why hasn't nobody done something about it? Anyway, the moment the team enters the building, Natalia, the princess who wants to marry Luke, appears and tries to join the team. She tells Luke that she heard the conversation between him and Van, and if she doesn't go with them, she'll tell everyone... WHY DIDN'T SHE TELL IT TO ANYONE!?? Van just confessed being the culprit of the kidnapping years ago, and he may have some answers about Luke's amnesia. Van is a dangerous individual that is keeping dangerous secrets from everyone! Will someone please stop him? Van's fonon powers must be making his intentions invisible to everyone. After burning a lot of oil barrels and solve the somewhat maze that is the factory, we found a giant sludge monster. This thing was more difficult than Arrieta and Dust combined, it soaked damage like a sponge.

After they defeat the monster, they go outside. Cue cinematic. It's raining, Asch and Sync have Ion captured. Luke jumps to save him, and starts fightin with Asch. He has a sudden realization, Asch and Luke look identical! Luke is shocked at all the question that brings to the table. I remember the conversation between Sync and Dust, about Luke being a perfect creation. Is Luke a clon of Asch? Are Luke and Asch just clones or artificial humans? Anyway, the God Generals run away, and the team has to continue through the dessert, because they think they can't come back to the city and take a boat. So they arrive to an oasis, with a big iceberg on the center of the lake (I know it's a fonon rock, but it looks like an ice cube). More game tomorrow.

AND SOMEONE PLEASE STOP VAN, HE'S EVIL.

You know it deserves the GOTY.
