As others have already mentioned, to keeps sales afloat. Also, have you played on the original 3ds with 3d mode on? That alone is a big improvement on the new 3ds, og model was awful with 3d on, some games were nearly unplayable for me, so much that I turned it off until I could grab a new 3ds.

You know the way the whole 3d fad in general like on tvs,  the ps3, the 3DS is kind of over.  Do you think Nintendo will drop it or do you think it will be part of the NX?

I really, really hope they drop it, it's useless to me, and as I had read in other forums, people feel the same way, 3d has to go.

Though there was a rumour lately that they planned on releasing the next handheld and/or nx controller with 3d again. Waste of power if they do, they could use that to create more powerful and better looking games.

Around the Network

To hold the brand over until the NX.

It was just the 3DSi, the "New". Nintendo's usual last gasp redesign to suck a few extra dollars and keep sales afloat for a little longer before ditching it.

I said it like 100 times on this board, but some people didn't want to listen a year ago.

Just like the DSi it basically got like 1 exclusive game and that's it too.

DSi's increased CPU made the Nintendo DSi Shop plus DSiWare possible.

New 3DS's increased CPU improved performance and loading to new 3DS games.

DSi added the camera that spawned more exclusive content.

New 3DS added the nub that spawned a few eShop exclusives and one retail game.
