Forums - Nintendo - UPDATED: Famitsu: Wolf link amiibo unlocks Battle: Trial of the Beast(details about this dungeon inside), scanning ganondorf causes 2x times damage taken(hero mode?)

Well, exactly what I expected : the actual thing Wolf Link amiibo unlocks isn't an actual dungeon but more of a challenge when you have to beat successive wave of ennemis to unlock an useless bonus at the end.

And the Hero Mode will most likely be available separately from the amiibo.

Hmm everything still seems pretty vague. I guess we will have to wait until closer to release for more info, least we wish to engage in kneejerk reactions like I've been seeing.

lol, I actually love the Ganondorf amiibo's feature, anything to make the game harder is fine in my books.

If you aprove of locking a difficulty setting behind an amiibo, you're going off my friend list on Skype. And VGC. Yeah, that's right.

"When it comes to other amiibo, players can read other Zelda-related figures for extra effects that can be done once per day. Link and Toon Link fully replenish arrows, Zelda and Sheik completely restore hearts, and scanning Ganondorf means you’ll receive twice as much damage from enemies."

Since we know hero mode has 2 times damage in it, it can be persumed by this that you must scan ganon to get it...Maybe you use ganon to get it early, I don't know for sure. But locking that mode behind amiibo is a shit move. Would have been added to this game whether we had amiibo or not.

"Using the Wolf Link amiibo at a certain place will allow you to play “Thorough Battle: Trial of the Beast” (perhaps this is the Twilight Cave we heard about last week). If you clear this while owning the “Giant Wallet”, you’ll earn the “Bottomless Wallet”. This lets you hold up to 9,999 Rupees, compared to Giant Wallet’s maximum of 1,000. The leak also mentions something about how Link’s health inside normal dungeons can be recovered by the amount of hearts you preserved in the exclusive dungeon (which I assume is this one)."

"there’s talk about the Wolf Link amiibo having a record of journeys. Their numbers can be saved, and by only touching it (the amiibo?) you can continue the adventure. It doesn’t mean you can save into a different save data though. So… yeah. Confusing. We’ll take another look at this tomorrow!"

not quite sure what this will be

If this is true, then the Wolf Link amiibo isn't as bad as I had initially thought it was going to be in terms of locked content.  Reminds me more of how the Splatoon amiibos functioned in that they gave you access to content that didn't make you feel like you were missing out on anything substantial or important.  I hope the Ganondorf one only gives you early access to the extra damage mode though.

The Hero Mode will surely be available without the amiibo.

That may be, but if Ültra approves of the very idea, he's still of the lists. (Okay maybe not really, but comeon.)

Ok, I'll admit, I was thinking about how Hero Mode was already a feature in the game, so I was thinking that an extra layer of difficulty that you can get immediately if you have the amiibo is a nice alterantive way to unlock a harder difficulty.

I guess it really depends on how the game does extra content with amiibo, I am really not a fan of unlocking characters in Fates via amiibo for example.

Its just a game dude

I hope the trend of locking things in amiibos won't get much stronger in the future. I can't buy the whole set of amiibo and the special edition of TP hd. At least make them cheaper nintendo, 12,99€ each amiibo is too much for my wallet even if I only buy three of them :(
