Since there is no scenario without losing a few people, their target should be winning more people than losing... and with a dual release they have the best chances. |
Why?

Because there would be no reason.
It's one thing to do it, and a completely different thing to give them reason.

There is always a reason to be pissed by a corporate decision.
"Why isn't Nintendo giving me the choice to play the new Zelda game on my new NX-console in 1080p? Fuck them, I don't get the game at all !!!" or "Why isn't Nintendo giving me the choice to play the new Zelda game on my new NX-handheld on the go? Fuck them, I don't get the game at all !!!" are not more stupid than "Why is Nintendo releasing an additional NX-version of Zelda U? Sure, I could just ignore that and enjoy the WiiU-version on my WiiU... but... Fuck them, I don't get the game at all !!!"

If nintendo do weak cheap consoles that only last half as long, they just need to release twice as often? NX might launch 2016, and be replaced by 2020, when the PS5 & XB two, launch. |
The Wii U wasn't cheap though, and even if the Wii was cheap, it lived for six years.
In succession they've been around for ten years come the end of 2016, so maybe they really might bring something new out at that point.

NX will get its own Zelda game, and backwards compatibility could allow you to play it anyways. Problem solved.

NX will get its own Zelda game... in how many years?
Backwards compatibility is not sure yet.
Even if the NX-console has BC, some people will prefer an enhanced version, which takes more use of the better hardware.
And I doubt that the NX-handheld can emulate WiiU games.

Yet you don't know. And expecting Nintendo to deliver on their word and deliver a game without going behind your back and making a superior version is different than you simply demanding it.
Some might even say it builds confidence in those comsumers in buying Nintendo hardware. ;)

Yes it does. I am one of the VERY few people who would have the opinion I have and support it anyway because I am an avid collector. My passion for collecting nintendos games has nothing to do with the truth of whether it is anti consumer or not. Get it? Lol

I think you're onto something here. The "nes" line lasted about a decade, the "gameboy" idea lasted about a decade, the "DS" line lasted about a decade, and the "Wii" line will last about a decade. It seems to be how Nintendo goes about things. So we might be entering a new Era here pretty soon.
The only systems that didn't follow some larger overarching theme seem to be the N64 and GC.
