The one funny thing about people assuming the NX replaces the Wii U this year is that these same people will perceive it as a delay when whatever does replace the Wii U is announced for next year.

No offence, but there is a group of Nintendo fans that's been wrong about pretty much everything this generation ...
"Mobile games suck, those won't impact the 3DS at all"
- Wrong.
"Nintendo will never, ever, ever make mobile games"
- Wrong.
"Wii U is going to be fairly successful, the Wii was at least 70-80 million sold"
- Wrong (it's only even in the last 12-15 months that some have accepted Wii U won't sell on par with GameCube)
"Nintendo will never release a 3DS without the 3D feature that's just stupid, what are they going to call it? 2DS? Don't me laugh"
- Wrong.
"Just wait until Smash and Mario Kart, Wii U sales will explode for sure!"
- Wrong.
"Nintendo has to release a real Animal Crossing for Wii U"
- Wrong.
"Nintendo will never release a 3DS with a second analog stick it would split the userbase! It's against the rules!"
- Wrong.
Basically the logic always is "I want this to happen (or don't want it to happen" mixed with "well Nintendo has never done in the past". But really it's based on nothing more than this.
The truth is Nintendo doesn't give one fuck what their fan base thinks 90% of the time (neither does the market). They will make a Federation Force Metroid game. They will replace the GBA mid-generation with their most successful hardware ever. etc. etc. etc.
We don't even know for sure if the NX will be the thing that replaces the Wii U!

As much as you may want the NX out sooner, it will be a failure if it comes out too soon. Dance around it all you want, it won't change reality. Mid gen releases are the horrible strategies and never work. Facts will always outway what anyone wishes to happen. |
But my point is that Wii U and NX want be relased in same time frame like I alredy wrote, Wii U was basicly relased at end of one or begining of onother, Wii U will be relased in middle of generation, not same thing at all.
NX has bigger chances of success if is released sooner (2016) than later, it's obvious that Nintendo can't wait PS5/X2 with Wii U and than launch NX.
Its way too early too say that NX will be failure, its also too early to say that will be huge success.

It needs to ve released almost right before the others when people are starving for new tech, not mid gen. That is the only way it will have a chance at success. We can go rounds all day on this, but it is the truth. No amount of optinistic hipes will change that.
In due time you will see ine way or another. If I am wrong quote me or get a month of sig control or whatever, I will take the bet.
If NX releases too soon, it will be WiiU all over again and will show a similar sales patern. If it releases closer to X2 and PS5 it will do better than WiiU (not saying it will beat PS5 or X1, but it will do better than WiiU in this case). This will be the result regardless of what NX is if it is console related.

We don't know what the NX is, what the nature of the platform is, you're just basing it off it being a traditional game console. What if it's not? Then what?
This would be like saying "Nintendo can't release a new portable right in the middle of the GBA's life cycle, it will get killed, they need to wait and release something on par with the PSP or they're doomed" in 2003 (and believe me people DID think that in 2003/04).
We even have a Nintendo patent pointing to an upgradable platform with cloud-based computing sharing, if that's what the NX is then all bets are off. If that's what they're thinking about an earlier launch is probably better ... better to get as many people into the NX ecosystem.

But a 2017 launch would still be a mid gen release. So a NX-console is doomed until they wait for the launch of PS5 + Xbox Two? |
Yes Nintendo will rock that Wii U until 2020.... just look at all the amazing titles it has announced for a 2016-2017 release!
Do I need sarcasm tags?
I'm just gonna wait it out at this point, wake me up when they say "NX" at E3.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

If nintendo do weak cheap consoles that only last half as long, they just need to release twice as often?
NX might launch 2016, and be replaced by 2020, when the PS5 & XB two, launch.
At least some nintendo fans are being realistic about this. Everything points to a 2017 launch.
