Forums - Gaming - I've completely lost interest in console/pc gaming over the past 5 months.

How much I play pretty much correlates with how many hours I put into work. Once I get over about 50 hours a week (as I was all last month) I do not tend to play much but now that things have slowed down I am playing more :)

I have been gaming since I was about 5 (I am 25 now) and do not think I have gone longer than a week without playing a game since for how long and how many days in a week is like I said linked to how many hours I work

I always suggest folks take a break every so often. I've had three six-twelve month breaks from gaming in my life and every time coming back felt refreshed and ready to enjoy games again.

I think the challenge is balancing life and games and when they can feel like a chore rather than having fun.

It just comes with getting older and trying to spread your time around with all of your hobbies and daily life activities. Don't feel bad for not gaming as much, because forcing yourself to play games will make it even worse. If you love to play games, you'll get the itch to play them again and you'll enjoy yourself. Just live your life, enjoy whatever it is you want to do, and try not to worry too much about it!

I'm with the OP on this one. I pretty much quit gaming but somehow I still buy games. I rather travel and spend it with the now fiance and make money. I have been itching to get a PS4 to play some games and I love my Xbox One. But the reality is that there's just no time for gaming when life is going your way. Maybe it's time to return to the Nintendo roots. The fiancee likes their kind of games.

Here we go again.

I love video games. I always have. I love how you can interact with interesting characters that aren't real. The storylines I get to follow in linear RPG's or adventure games. The gigantic and expansive worlds to explore in open world RPG's. The friends and fast paced action I have with online shooters (also the trash talk). The grinding and life-like experience I have with playing my favorite sports games such as the myPlayer in the Nba2k series.

I love talking about video games with my friends.  Nothing is better than being excited for something and sharing that excitement along with your closest friends in anticipation for release. Waiting for the latest reviews from my favorite sites and then seeing if it obtained a good metacritic score. I love coming to Vgchartz and seeing the current buzz that everybody is talking about.

But for some reason; every few years or so... My interest for playing them completely fades. Not sure why. It just does.

The last time this happened to me was in mid 2012. I had finished putting 200+ (that's a lot for me with 1 game) hours in Skyrim. After that I remember it being very difficult finding any game, let alone an RPG, that could suck me back in. It got better for a while when I picked up my Ps4 in 2014. Obviously the excitement of a new console is always enjoyable. But the time has come and gone it seems like.

This time is different. I feel like I'll never have that same pure joy I had when I was younger. I'm not old currently by any means (22) but with a career military job consuming a lot of time (Air Traffic Control), going civilian to the FAA in a few years, my growing interest in weightlifting and fitness... It's very hard to find time to play any of the games coming out let alone completing them.

Not to mention my sex life lol. That always takes priority.

But I digress. It's disappointing. I think I have officially moved on. I no longer have interest in coming to video gaming sites. Seeing the latest news. Counting down on reviews. *Sigh*

You need a healthy balance of gaming, working, sex and food. As long as you have that you will be fine.

why bother making a post like this for attention?

not trying to be a jerk, but a 'look at me look at me, I'm not playing video games anymore' post just seems entirely unnecessary and useless. why would anyone care that you've stopped playing video games?

I mean it's like if I decided to bake a pie instead of play my favorite game... would a thread be necessary to tell people about that? strange

people get busy with their lives and either don't have time for hobbies or change hobbies. its nothing earth shattering or particularly discussion worthy

Just take a break for a bit and you'll gain interest in it again.

Gaming is entertainment for the most part. You'll be fine even if you never are interested again. Though given time I'm sure you'll find something interesting. You did seem to have fun at the PlayStation experience last month.

I absolutely loved Playstation experience. A part of me went to that event hoping to rekindle that little kid excitement of actually playing the games and not just look at them lol.

...you should play Undertale. Sorry if you're tired of hearing about this game but it genuinely revitalized my interest in gaming in a way I hadn't felt since I was 4, I highly recomend you to check it out.

Also, I don't have a lot of time or dedication to play videogames either, I mean, I could do it in the short time-spans I have between classes and weekends, but forcing yourself to play something always sucks out a little enjoyment from it, so I let things flow naturally for the most part.

I actually am playing Undertale! Currently the only things I play (for the past half year or so) have been League of Legends; and more recently Undertale. I was hesitent at first because I watched Videogamedunkey's play on it and thought it'd be spoiled. But so far (an hour or so) into it I am enjoying.

Looks like you doing way better things than play videogames and you enjoying them, not sure why you are sad about it.

Not sad; bummed? Surprised? It has been one of my greatest hobbies for more than a decade.

I am not sure you are aware of this; but as this is a video game forum I decided to post something video game related. Mind blowing I know.
