if they want to play them, they can buy a wii u. they have every chance in the world. nintendo isnt going to "remaster" any game that is on the wii u for their next console. theyre going to make NEW games that are going to take advantage of the NEW hardware.

They're never going to buy a Wii U.

Nintendo probably spent a fairly hefty budget on some of these games too as HD development is not cheap (Xenoblade was in development for like 3 1/2+ years alone).

Sure NX will have NEW games, but the universe isn't going to implode on itself if some people get to play some games they missed out on Wii U. Wii U is a very niche console, very few people bought it, that's simply the reality of the situation and Nintendo put a lot of effort into many of the Wii U software titles.

Console remasters are likely to be a staple of all system libraries going forward anyway, we're seeing it all the time on the PS4 and XB1 too and Nintendo is doing it as well (really they have been since the SNES days so it's nothing that new).

dont worry, nintendo has made all their money back from those projects. if anything, nintendo will make whatever the successor of the wii u is backwards compatible, then anybody who "missed" the games can play them on the new console regardless. nintendo isnt going to stoop to "remastering" games that just came out. i keep saying this, and i will continue to because if you know anything about nintendo, you know that they have no interest in making a game that is already HD more HDer with a "remaster." they havent even done that for any wii games (-Twilight princess, even though that game  was created from the ground up for the GC), and i could at least half way see an argument as to why they should have done that.

Nintendo needs a porting studio. Maybe even 2 studios. Not just for Nintendo stuff, but they could have been in charge of multiple 3rd party games. They should have been doing this for Wii U from the get go. Nintendo should have used this company to get a port of Skyrim, GTA5, and Street Fighter 4. Nintendo should have been actively porting as many 3rd party games as possible once it was known that the 3rd party devs wouldn't do it themselves.

Why port Wii U games? There are plenty of titles from N64 to Wii to remaster from.

Aside from Tantalus, what other studio could be a good candidate for those porting jobs on Nintendo consoles?

Also, I would like to know how long did Tantalus take to remaster Twilight Princess. On Wikipedia, the list of games they've developed/ported in the past years is very slim.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I thought the Wii U already proved that 3rd party ports don't sell on it. Why should Nintendo buy a studio to get more 3rd party ports? Personally I liked the 3rd party games (ports & exclusive) from Ubisoft in the early days of the Wii U. But I totally understand that they didn't ported anymore games, because obviously I was the only person, who bought them.

There are several reasons why this could work. First, 3rd parties usually sell less on Nintendo systems, but if the job of porting the game is done by other, maybe the smallers sales aren't that big of an issue anymore. Second, that could help to reinforce the ties between them and some other companies. Third, Nintendo could convince some studios that aren't usually working on Nintendo systems (Bethesda, T2, CD Red...) and finally bring some of their games to Nintendo consoles. Fourth, Nintendo could talk to some companies to bring games that are requested on Nintendo systems.

Nintendo needs to make their product look as valuable as possible, and if they have to dedicate an efford to bring some of the big titles that other systems get, so be it. WIth that said, Nintendo should pick which games they will help with a lot of care, because not all of them will be succesful, and their porting studios could rather make remasters of old Nintendo games.

Nintendo isn't going to remaster Wii U titles to bolster the library of its next console. Lol. There are a group of people actually saying this stuff?
