I was thinking this, as well. If there's no new mainline 3D Mario game this year, then I fear we may have to wait until like 2018 for the next one. Remember the gap between Sunshine and Galaxy? 2002-2007, 5 years.

Let's hope they'll do 3 years and not 5!

Especially if the NX is a home console and does launch this year, a 3D Mario at launch would be something that hasn't been done in 20 years, it would be huge!

Yes. And because of that some of us are speculating that it can come at launch, or at least be ready to release around that time.

I kinda don't about care a new 3D Mario titles as of right now. Too busy with Mario Maker AND too hyped for Zelda Wii U

Well he did say he likes to have mario introduce the new technology each gen, though delays have got in the way of that before. There's about a 100% chance, I'd imagine, that they've already been working on the next installment for some time now.
