Back from making $$ for the last 2 years???

How much were they making compared to the Wii? Oh right, they loss money at the beggining, unlike the Wii. How much of that profits are from 3DS, software, amiibo or Wii U? Yes, hell = Wii U.

Again, the question is "What if Nintendo Doesn't Comeback?", comeback from where??? Making money??? Did they go somewhere since yesterday that I'm not aware of? Did they go to Mars???

To me this is just another doom & gloom thread in bad disguise, the premise being that Nintendo is dead & burried... have fun "accepting" a lie/fantasy pill grotesquely shoved down your throats...

The only one not making a comeback today is David Bowie & that's a sad real shame!!!

They went from making billions a fiscal year and being the most important company of the industry, with being in top of many lists worldwide, to being out of those, losing money and sinking in the irrelevance. Making small profits (some comes from exchange rates) is nothing to brag about. So they want to comeback as the top company in the industry, as they were before this mess.

OP says:  Come back from the Wii U.  A poorly selling console that failed to attract even 20% of its previous marketshare while being ignored by thired parties and ultimately regulated to diehards.  Come back refers to acheiving mass market success once again.

This is not doom and gloom because Nintedo has options.  They can acutally afford to fail and they will still be fine because going 3rd party or mobile will absolutely make them billions upon billions.  No one in their right mind is 'worried' about Nintendo.  So to be blunt, do you think they can acheive mass market success with the NX and if not what is the best option for them?

All of this plus more.  Did you know that Wii sales used to make of 10% of all of Walmart's revenue?  That is a lot of damn money.

Damn, and people believe Nintendo is fine with the current situation.

Let also remember that lately Nintendo mentioned to investors that they want to come back to "Nintendo-like" profits. Yep.

They can actually afford to fail since they have more $$ in the bank than you know. If you think that the NX will make or break (make Nintendo go 3rd party) Nintendo, I suggest that  you'd be better doing a little research before starting fantasy threads based on some random parallel universe odd reality...

Wow good find.  There it is.  You can't get much plainer than that.

You are just being difficult.  I don't know what you want.  We want Nintendo to be as successful as possible however they can do it.  I have no idea what you want.  We don't want the NX to fail.  We are just being realistic in light of the Wii U's underwhelming succession to the Wii's success.  In the real word, its okay to speculate what options a company has.  And its okay to acknowledge when a venture is not successful.  The Wii U was not successful. You don't need to defend them becuase I am sure Nintendo can defend itself.   All I wanted to know is what you think they could do if the NX doesn't work?   What would be the best option.  If you think they should make another console thats fine but please participate in the thread.  What are your thoughts on the subject I laid out?

2-1

In your presentation, you made it clear that in this fiscal year Nintendo would prioritize restoration of the balance of revenue and expenses. My question deals with the company’s mid-term prospects. I would like Mr. Iwata to tell us his current thoughts on what he would like the following two terms (the fiscal year ending March 2016 and the fiscal year ending March 2017) to mean for the company. Given that Nintendo already made a significant devaluation of inventory in the previous fiscal year, I suppose you are envisioning that the financial performance of the company is set to recover by some extent this fiscal year, but what are the key factors that will drive the business from the next fiscal year? Or, do you think that investment will expand yet again from the new businesses in and after the next fiscal year? Please tell us how you would expect the company’s financial performance to change from the next fiscal year.

2-1

Iwata:

With regard to this fiscal year, I feel that it is essential for us to restore the balance of revenue and expenses that has been lost temporarily in order to gain trust in the financial markets. On the other hand, while it is difficult to talk about the next two fiscal years using concrete figures, I feel that in the next fiscal year we will be able to be more specific about the kinds of mid-term projects that we discussed at the Corporate Management Policy Briefing in January, and in fact, we will even start to offer some of them to the public. In the following fiscal year, I expect some of these measures to start serving as a source of profits for the company. In this sense, instead of seeing a great and sudden recovery in our profitability in the next fiscal year, I am rather expecting to be able to report Nintendo-like profits from around the following fiscal year.

Now people can stop playing around.

A lot of you guys have responded saying that the NX doesn't have to dominate to be successful and you are right. But it certainly can not sell as bad as the Wii U. THIS is what I am defining as a fail. If you think that the NX could take the Xbox One or PS4 thats fine. but if they ship another Wii U in terms of sales, what then?

The thread does not say that it has to do PS4 numbers. It just can't do Wii U numbers.

Then what would you call above Wii U numbers but nowhere near X1/PS4 numbers?, again that feels like a big rock and a hard place scenario and still sounds like it's bad either way. I mean just say they did better or slightly better than WIi U numbers, how long will it take before we have the same discussions where Nintendo might go 3rd party or might be doomed because either way we're forcing this on Nintendo for simply not toppling the other two and now we have their own current system thrown into the mix. I strongly feel that from all this there is simply no winning for Nintendo at all because even if they had slightly better numbers than Wii U we'll still find some area to complain about how bad it is that they are doing even despite them not doing Wii U numbers, damned if they are and damned if they don't. We talked about their catch 22 situation a year and a half ago and I feel we'll be right back to talking about that with the NX in terms of sales and support.
