Forums - Nintendo - How do you think Nintendo should adapt more of their IPs to mobile?

So far Nintendo has Miitomo, the social free-to-play app featuring Nintendo Mii thingy coming soon, but what other things could Nintendo do with their characters to maybe popularize even more their IPs and get some profts out of them via mobile?

Do you have any ideas in wha apps and games Nintendo could make (or allow other devs to make)?

What type of games could Nintendo make for mobile that could work?

Do you have an idea of what Nintendo "shouldn't" do with their IPs in mobile, maybe because you think it could possibly harm their brand? Why?

Are you happy with Nintendo going mobile, even if so far they have gone up to a relative prudent extent? Maybe you think they haven't gone deep enough?

Anyways, feel free to talk Nintendo going mobile.

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

They could push far as making all Nintendo characters themed Mini game collection.

I honestly don't dislike the idea of Miitomo, though I don't see myself getting it :p

It would be great for an application that ties in all the games you own on console and have some sort of achievement/leaderboard type thing.. which they could add into Miitomo or something

Game wise, the F2P 3DS Pokemon games are what I would expect to see on mobile.. what they really need to do, though, is find a good F2P model, as Picross and Shuffle are ridiculously expensive.. There definitely should be an option to 'purchase' the whole game without having to spend crazy amounts to get everything

Planet Puzzle League, Brain Age, NintenDogs and such would be very popular mobile games in my opinion

They could easily make a spinoff Super Mario game and somehow integrate this game into Super Mario Maker

If they put those Nintendo characters' faces on any app I bet it will garner easy attention and garantee downloads.

Casual mini-games compilations in the same vein as Wii Play that focuses on touch screen inputs.  Apps that use gameplay to teach you stuff like Nintendo did with Brain-Age.

What type of games could Nintendo make for mobile that could work?

I think Nintendo should treat mobile as the branch to put all of their casual and teaching software on.  For example, they could rebrand the Wii line or create apps that carry the same tone as some of the more casual offerings the DS had like Brain Age.

I don't think Nintendo should offer any of their back catalogue or provide any direct gameplay experiences that are currently available for their platforms.  This means that they shouldn't do things like put a mainline Rhythm Heaven game on mobile even if it would be perfect for it because it weakens the attractiveness of their hardware.

If the NX is a platform with a unified library, then I'm happy for Nintendo because the mobile branch effectievely takes over the handheld branch as their secondary source of income.

There are plenty of Nintendo IPs that could work well with touch controls such as Fire Emblem , Advance wars or Mario and DK minis on the move. I'd love to have the GBAs FE on my phone.

I feel like some version of NES Remix would be cool. It would have to work well with touch controls, though.

A straight-up 2D free-to-play Mario platformer. Collect coins as currency (or buy via microtransactions). Use coins to buy power-ups. Power-ups non-essential for level completion but required for getting collectibles that will be necessary for progression. This can all be tweaked but I'm trying to avoid any kind of "energy" system while still making us money here.

Try and innovate controls that don't involve a virtual d-pad. I have two suggestions:
1) Hold extreme left of screen for left, extreme right for right, and anywhere in middle for jump.
2) Tilt for left and right and have whole screen as jump button.
Virtual d-pad should be an option for those who like it.

This is about as easy as money could get for Nintendo, and with additional worlds added as updates from time to time (including mega-difficult worlds for the big bucks) this will be the game that keeps on giving.

Flappy Mario, Link, Pokemon?.
