Forums - Nintendo - OLED in Nintendos new handheld?

I know Vita ditched oled but the tech has made some improvements along with cheaper production and are now available in alot of phones.

The benefits would be much better picture quality. In addition to those gorgeous colors, OLED also allows the screen to refresh its pixels extremely quickly, reducing visual stutter in games. Also oled tech is more energy efficient then lcd and slightly thinner

At CES it looks like OLED is becoming cheaper and more affordable and even being used in Alienwares laptops

Would be nice to see Nintendo take up the OLED screens since Sony Dropped them after their vita refinements.

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

Use a display that has high resolution and better life and lower consumption

OLED is Devil's* technology, they'd never use it.

Actually rumors and patents are pointing toward Sharp's IGZO displays, but you may never know.

Too expensive yet, OLED is really cool and has amazing potential but even small displays are super expensive at this point. It would be cool but would drive the price up too much; I hardly think they'll launch another console sold at a loss from the beginning, that would piss off investors too much at this point.

Nintendo will not use OLED. Expect a high resolution LCD screen similar to what LG uses

Only if it helps fufil the device's function.

OLED doesn't really go in line with Nintendo's whole "low power consumption", "low cost components" mindset.
