The graph says it's not doing much better.

Also, being 'up there with the PS3' is not that great an accomplishment really. I mean it did well sure but compared to the Famicoms and PS1/2 the drop off is big.

It's been out less than 2 years in Japan.  Look at the graph it's pulling ahead of the Wii U at and accelerating rate. If you think it's not going to continue to grow the gap you'll be eating plenty of crow in a year. 

The ps4 is competing with the ps3 not the Wii U. 

Yes its represntable. PS4 is outselling regullary the Wii U, look how fast it got to 2 million, the Wii U is not even 3 million yet despite its longer lifetime. 

My point remains that japanese people arent just buying the console without games. You forget also that PS4 and even most PS3 and Vita games are sold for twice the price of a 3DS and Wii U game. For almost every 2 copies of Splatoon 1 copy of MGS5 is being sold. Add in PS+ you will see that Sony makes just as much money in Japan

As of your other argument, i really doubt sony makes close to as much money as nintendo in japan. Another thing your not realizing especially when you compare splatoon to mgsv is that though its true mgsv is more expensive, nintendo gets most of the profit as its a first party game while konami get majority of the profits since its there game. Sony doesn't have that many games they made a ton money on when you compare it to nintendo (japan)

these games alone probably made more profit for Nintendo then all of what sony did together with its lineup of First/Third party games,etc.

I think it was in this thread that people believe 8M for the homeconsole leader in Japan is success... Nah, I think it was in another one.

Oh yeah didn't even notice, but ruler is wrong. If comparing prices its 2:3 not close to 1:2. That said like i previously pointed out, splatoon made way more money than mgsv for nintendo than sony

Aligned sales aren't much better and the graph is very clear about that.

The graph is very clear that the ps4 is pulling way ahead of the Wii U now.  They're respective lines or on a completely different course.  

@Pavolink yeah 8m+ for the ps4 is good for it.  if you want to move the goalposts and say it's bad for the market leader,  then yeah maybe it is but that's a black mark on the market not the console.  

And to but in on the other console I doubt Sony make more than Nintendo in Japan but they definitely make a pretty penny from those ps plus subs and will do so over the entire gen.  

You asked for the numbers and i gave them to you and you were wrong, i'm not gonna argue when you keep moving the goalposts.
