Many porn companies went out of business in past ten years because video sales fell something like 80% in that time. The industry shifted away from professional proudction companies to more direct cheaper avenues of actors having a camera or webcam. I am basing what I know on interviews done with some of these actors and how they have to constantly generate new content as once it is pirated sales of that video crater and they don't see a dime of it from the free sites. You can argue exposure, but directly they don't benefit from it. Many of them keep doing it because the cost of entry is so cheap so risk is minimal.
