I've read on GAF that the next Sonic game could be inspired by the classic trilogy, so probably that! Even if it's just Generations 2.

Hard for me to decide since I liked Generations, Sonic Heroes and the daytime levels of Unleashed. Older games I'd also like to see more of in a new Sonic game would take elements from Sonic & Knuckles but also Sonic CD (seriously loved the past,present and future aspects along with the game's OST and animated intro/outro).

Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.

I would be happy with any of the following:

Adventure 3 (but with the same style as the first one with exploration etc. and visually stunning levels)
Colours 2
Lost World 2
Generations 2
Sonic Allstars Racing 3 (ideally as well as)

Or something completely new for the PS4/XBONE systems that doesn't suck.

More than anything else, a Vita Sonic platformer! haha never gonna happen.
