Just noticed the XOne is on course to outsell both the Wii U and the 3DS individually for the full calendar year.

Both have had 'victories' with home console sales annually ever since 2001 but Nintendo handhelds have always stayed ahead of MS hardware.

Is this the first time MS have been above all Nintendo formats for yearly sales?

You mean for one week? That's not at all a good indicator. This is a twilight year for the 3DS with no major titles (no matter how much Nintendo or Level 5 try to push Yokai Watch) while this is the or at least one of the peak years for the Xbone with freaking Halo 5 launching.  And it outsold each separately, not combined.  And it outsold the 3DS by a narrow margin.

Can you please provide numbers or elaborate more of it. You joined this site in 2007, soooo you should know how things work here.

Nintendo has won three generations of home consoles and five generations of handhelds. Sony has won three generations of home consoles. Microsoft has won nothing... at all. 

So, I think it's probably a bit pointless to mention short term sales lol
