Yeah, you're right, but still. Say Mario had like, 20 games. Zelda having half the amount of games as Mario is still sad.

Yep. Zelda was supposed to be the second coming of Jesus, not a cheap spin-off like Triforce Heroes or a remake franchise. Aonuma must step down asap.

I wouldn't blame it on him, and I wouldn't say he needs to step down asap after making 4 masterpieces and onto his 5th one.

Then who is the one to blame? I want him to stop doing this to Zelda.

It's a spin off, so it's expected to sell less than the originals, so it's fine, though I'm sure Nintendo expected higher numbers

Oh I don't disagree. I'm just not trying to let this thread descend further into hyperbole a la Pavolink, so I jumped in to respond to your question.

To me it's genuinely a shame we even got to something like TFH (even if as a game it was fun enough and genuinely surprised me with how enjoyable it could be). This was once a once/twice a gen type of experience that is now forced to overpopulate because Aonuma can't budget his time anymore. I won't go as far as Pavo does but to see Zelda suffer from being overdone while, say, Metroid is sitting there waiting to be used correctly.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

I don't think so. This game will reach 1m eventually (probably by summer at worse). It was just a filler, really... a cheap spin off of a game that was a reharsh of an old game. I think it's going according to Nintendo expectations.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Aonuma's main focus is still on Zelda Wii U. Triforce Heroes is a spin-off, the series isn't going down to shame due to a spin-off. If Mario can make a variety of spin-offs (Mario's Missing, Mario Paint, Tennis, Golf, Party, Luigi's Mansion, Olympic Games, Kart, Smash, etc.) while still have some of the greatest games of all-time being released, I personally don't think Zelda will suffer if it had a spin-off like Triforce Heroes. Nintendo wants Zelda Wii U to meet all of our expectations, as per Reggie from the November Direct, so I'm sure Aonuma is doing everything he can to get this game done and up to the expectations of the company and the fans.

Of course, there has been a lot of remakes this generation. I think it is because of the new technology, 3D and HD. Nintendo wanted to show how a handheld with 3D and an HD Nintendo home console game could work. Thus, Zelda was the one to lead by example, with remakes of old 3D Zelda games that many might not have played before or were hoping for an enhanced version of those old games.

I know that Zelda HD is his main focus, but that doesn't mean he has to not invest time in the other ones. He invested time in every one of the Zelda releated games this gen, in some cases a little, but still have to be there.

My main fear is that all of these projects it's what the reason for the delay as the team behind Zelda HD was not doing good with the progress. This is the same thing that happened in 2004-2005 with TP and Minish Cap.

Unfortunately, we really don't have any idea of what's going on behind-the-scenes unless we want to go by the rumors about it's progress. I won't give him the full blame on this because there are a lot of factors that could be going on. After all, this is the first ever in-house, non-remake, HD Zelda game.

I do agree that maybe he could invest his time less on the other games if he didn't need to. He could've been on a supervisor role in Triforce Heroes if he didn't have to be there for a good amount of time.

I get your fear, but we'll have to see...for now at least.

OT: I think the sales for Triforce Heroes are within reasonable expectations. Reused assets for a spin-off...it is what it is. A fun game (from what I'm hearing) that did its job for being a spin-off. I didn't expect it to sell at a high rate, even on a handheld. Spin-offs usually don't garner a lot of attention nor sell like gangbusters.

Tbh, I blame him because I don't have any other guy to blame. But I understand that maybe it's not his decision and that he has worked, maybe, like no other gen.

I just hate the current management.

Hopefully, with NX or whatever, Nintendo will look back and think..maybe we overdid it with Zelda and they'll be more considerate on development. This has been a trying generation for Nintendo as a whole so I can understand some of the frustrations from people who are fans of a certain franchise or Nintendo in general.

Thanks guys.

Thought I'd jump in to the discussion of Zelda over-saturation.

For me, I actually really enjoy the fact that Nintendo has turned Zelda into basically an annualized franchise at this point. The reason I say so is because, while they have been releasing new Zelda games every year, they aren't all main line Zelda titles. I would have a major issue if they made main line Zelda games every year, as the quality of them would likely greatly suffer.

I think the remakes are great. In my mind, OoT 3D, WW:HD, and MM 3D are all the definitive ways to play each of those games, and I think it's awesome that Nintendo made them. In addition, Hyrule Warriors was a nice, unique experiment with the Dynasty Warriors franchise, and TFH has been surprisingly enjoyable, despite some problems.

The bottom line, I think that the fact Nintendo is making so many remasters/spin offs in the Zelda franchise actually increases the impact of the main line Zelda titles. It makes you anticipate them that much more because you know it will be more significant than the games you've been playing over the past 2-3 years. I would hate it if Zelda was like Metroid, with no new game for like 6 years.
