I am not quoting you, well I am but I am not. I cannot scroll to the bottom of this thread, I am guessing it is that star wars picture someone post.
Anyways. No more mega threads! If someone posts 5 what is the color of the new NX type threads, then lock 4 of them! What has theprofs thread got about 30 posts in 6 months? That is dumb. Let him turn it into the official thread like iamawesome had years ago for the Wii U and then call it a day. But let us post like any other site would let its members. You have like 100,000 members on this site, you must remember. Sure half are bots or gone but the other are still here either in guest mode or just not really active. Not everyone is even going to know about theprofs thread. Shoot! The same 15 poster post in platinas mega nintendo thread. On a whole, people steer clear from these mega threads. Then why the massive post count? Well take a look at the old Microsoft mega thread. You had 20 or fewer people posting 20 or more times a day, usually spamming. THere you go. It is not because 1,000's of users were posting in these threads.
The best way to see a thread is having it in latest topics, refreshed regularly, and not having articles and stories hidden in the 100;s of pages.

Welllllll I think if you took a look at other threads on the same topic the distribution would be fairly similar. Some people post more often in certain topics than others do. Some people sign in more frequently. Such is life on a forum.
All the rumor threads are related so heavily that the discussion frequently plays out in an identical manner; dissent or agree and give the same opinion you did in the last thread, and will in the next.
IMO an Official rumors thread is the way to go. A thread with a clean and tidy OP that is updated frequently, and with plenty of room for discussion to take place without the need of creating so many similar threads. I get that people want to make their own threads for the purpose of gaining attention and points but it is just unneeded and circlejerky. The forum feels unnecessarily cluttered when all those similar topics take over the front page.
The best way to see a thread is to abolish all the other threads that serve the same purpose, and build an official thread. Build it and they will come; maintain it well and they will stay. Who can maintain it well?
If we're on the subject of nominating a tribute I agree that Rol would be a great candidate (if he so chooses) seeing as he is punctual, precise, level-headed, intelligent and probably a great pre-forum filter for worthwile information.
