Microsoft didn't have a bad year. They did better than last year. OP's real problem is it got beat by PS4, and can't stand it.

MS strategy was pretty good, like last year; the only difference compared to last year is that Sony also was aggressive this time with fire sales, not only MS ! MS are doing just fine, I don't understand all this talking, also X1 had a very very good exclusive line up in 2015. PS4 is selling like hot cakes, but this does not mean that X1 is crap, and MS do not need to sell as much as Sony to be productive. X1 sold very well in NA, very good strategy; Sony did better, and what ? Both were great, with one console selling more, where the big deal ?

”Every great dream begins with a dreamer. Always remember, you have within you the strength, the patience, and the passion to reach for the stars to change the world.”

Harriet Tubman.

To call this strategy is quite a stretch.

Hunting Season is done...

The guys at Xbox division aren't allowed to go on their usual spending sprees, Nadella won't allow it.

Unlike Ballmer, Satya has little tolerance for aimless adventures. Windows smartphones and X1 are here to compliment your Windows 10 experience, that's their only mission. Don't expect MS to invest aggressively in these divisions anymore.

Making X1 the best selling gaming console doesn't help MS move forward, Nadella is fine with its current performance.

Tomb raider shouldn't have had to suffer that packed period of games. It would have been better to sit on it until late Jan-mid Feb. Now UC4 will outsell it just from week 1 sales.

With Halo it's a bit odd, I think they also wanted to let people know Battlefront was also on X1, as much as they could, which might have worked, obviously it still sold alot more on PS4, but that was with a huge push by Sony.

I agree their bundling isn't great, and could be better.

MS need to look ahead though and in the short term get behind The Division and Quantum Break.

1. I agree Halo should have been pushed more but it seems the budget for marketing was slashed. A lot this gen so far.

2. Fallout 4 and Tomb Raider were there 3rd party deals.

3. This point is subjective. They had a bundle for everyone. I think they had too damn many. Should've been Lego or Rare Replay, Gears, Tomb Raider and Fallout.

4. I really think Square screwed MS on this deal(release date and announcing the deal length). MS had both Marketing rights and I'm pretty damn sure they weren't expecting both to release on the same day. Even if no one had marketing rights would any of you release your game at the same time as Fallout?

5. 1.2M man. That is a fuck ton of consoles moved. You seem angry They didn't "win" 1.2M is serious. I wouldn't say they loss.

None of these games held a candle compared to COD and Star Wars. And yes, 1.2 million is alot, but the PS4 did more, which whether I or you like it or not is a loss.

Dont Forget that 1.2 Millions of Xbox on USA, means more than 70% of the Sales of Xbox one WorldWide, and 1.6 Millions of Playstation 4, means less than 33% of the Playstation 4 sales worldwide, People Seems to Believe that Only USA Matters, While Sony, without the USA Numbers already is Selling more than Xbox One, WorldWide, and do you Guys Remember that there were Months that Xbox only sold 180k, 240k, 330k (Even with a Halo Release), In their Biggest Market that is over 70% of the Worldwide Sales, if Xbox Did not sold well this Black Friday, and Christimas, it would finish the Year with less than 15 Millions Life-time  Units sold.

Lol. No, the XB1 doesn't get 70% of sales in the US. Its closer to 50%. The PS4 however is around correct (give or take a few percent).

Made a bet with LipeJJ and HylianYoshi that the XB1 will reach 30 million before Wii U reaches 15 million. Loser has to get avatar picked by winner for 6 months (or if I lose, either 6 months avatar control for both Lipe and Hylian, or my patrick avatar comes back forever).

Before the Blackfriday the Xbox One, had over 8.8+ Millions of Consoles sold on USA, and they had over 15.6 Millions acording to VGChart, that Undertracked the Playstation 4, before Sony Announced the official Numbers (maybe they are overtracking the Xbox One WordWide Numbers) and had over 15.6 Millions Worldwide units Sold, is Over 60%  But Usually is 70%, we dont have enought numbers the Last number they gave was a Shippment number andwas 1 year and 3 Months ago, why do you think they are hiding this for so much Time ?.

The only numbers we have is UK, Japan, and USA, and the Actual total Numbers is  over 12.6-12.9 Millons with those 3 Countries, i dont see Microsoft, Selling 35% of their Total sales with WorldWide Sales, because this is the sales without UK, and USA, so this cannot be anywhere near it, because of that or VgChartz is Undertraking the USA Sales, or is Overtraking the WolrdWide Sales.

Our lack of Xbox One's data is what make it harder to say how much it sell on America via Total %, but is Unlikely for the Xbox One, to sell over 35% of their total Without UK, and USA.

If that was true I would own PS4 right now. The sole reason I don't own a PS4 right now is its lack of exclusives I care about (I'm not a Dark Soul's fan btw). If Sony was doing everything right than X1 wouldn't be doing as well as it is. Brand recognition didn't do Wii U or Vita much favors. I bought a WIi U this holiday because it has exclusives I really wanted.

I think you're giving MSsells credit than deserved.

Brand recognition + most third parties are multiplat..... But they all look/run better on PS..... I don't see a reason beyond halo to be an Xbox only guy..... Unless you are okay W playing third party games(which is fine) that are not on par with ps

The resolution disparity is negliable to the average consumer and sometimes X1 has the performance edge. There are also cases of parity.

X1 has more exclusives than Halo.

Technically the X1 ports arent at par with the PS4 versions. But the disparity is simply negligable. PS2 and OG Xbox ports on otherhand felt a generation apart.
