Forums - Gaming - Battlefront sold 12 million copies in 2015 according to Michael Pachter

I really doubt it. It sold fairly low on November NPD iirc. Let me check.

Edit: not as low as I thought. 2.1 million without digital accounted for November in the US. But I highly doubt it sold ~4 million in Europe alone.

It sounds kinda possible, since the movie came out and holidays... but like others said, EA would have bragged about it quite a bit.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Actually this number is fairly believable and makes sense given how November and December sales were fairly similar.

Wedbush Securities release these numbers to their clients so whilst they are estimates it's not something they just release for no reason, they do have to have some degree of certainty before disclosing their estimates.

Not to mention that Pacific Crest Securities, another investment firm, believe the game may have already achieved it's cumulative sell in goal of 13 million (or not be far away) a good 3 months early.

Just because there is 'Pachter' in the title doesn't mean it's not true.

EA no longer release exact sales figures. They only confirm whether the game has performed in line with expectations, or above/below expectations.

Oh I just read the "6 million in November" and remembered the NPD not being anywhere near that, that's why I had doubts. Giving it more thought and checking the NPD thread, it sounds possible, but it still bugs me that EA didn't at least mention "10 million active players in less than 2 months" or something like that.

Even if true why do people think these are good numbers? they probably spend 400 million alone on devoloping, marketing and on the star wars rights. They also had to take up huge losses on battlefield hardline because Dice didnt devolope it to focus on starwars. I hope starwars bombed since its Multiplayer/server only with 100$ season pass, would serve them right

We will see Star Wars Battlefront 2 next year. I feel sorry for people thought they would get campaign.

The next major battlefield by dice is next year and visceral are making a campaign star wars so I highly highly doubt  will get battlefront 2 next year and not in 2017.

They are good. The movie made about $770m in revenue and the game did $660m in revenue which is not to far of.

Because that means it's doing way better than their prior Battlefield games.

Also Disney are getting paid :P

I heard that the creator of Uncharted and Soul Reaver is making this game.

You're going to need some sources for that claim.  I see no way that a rather basic online shooter cost all that much to develop, plus a fair amount of the advertising was paid for by Sony.

Doesn't deserve it... I'll say that.

True, the most games don't sell what they deserve.
