Forums - Gaming - Is a Shenmue 1&2 Remaster possible with the news of FF9 Remaster?

I think they have the same reasons why people thought it was impossible to recreate because of the lost source code rumours floating around and since FF9 kinda debunked that, Do you think Shenmue may get a remaster because of this especially in anticipation for Shenmue 3 and for the new fans as well?

I'd assume a shenmue 1 & 2 remaster is already underway to help get consumers aware of the ip in preparation for shenmue 3 in a couple of years to maximize sales.

We may even hear something about it this year.

What are you talking about with FF9? The mobile FF9 version is just an emulated port. The added features are through the added emulator and could be done to any game without the source code. Likeweise a Shenmue port was never off the table.

Please don't confuse ports with remasters. Uprendering the resolution has nothing to do with remastering.

I'd love remasters for 1&2.

It makes sense for them to do it, and I hope it happens, so I can bet a chance to try them before 3 comes out.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

I'm sure they are being developed as we speak, the successful kickstarter showed there was interest for the franchise, and they would be riding the Shenmue 3 hype train.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

A remaster would be difficult because the game has a lot of art assets that need to be reproduced.
And HD port though..

I LOVE ICELAND!

What is the relation between Shenmue and FF9?. Shenmue has licensing issues that are a hurdle to its remaster. So, SEGA has track down and renew expired licenses or edit them out. That's the hold up.

Why would lost code matter??
It appears creating Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix has been significantly more laborious than it needed to be, as the original assets for the game were lost some time ago.
Didnt stop SQEX.
