Nintendo arent as dumb as many here like to believe, hence the reason they are branching out into mobile. They can use their popular IP to reach millions upon millions of mobile device users (Pokemon go is going to be huge), whilst also having an audience for dedicated gaming devices, in which their is always going to be that hardcore crowd. Add this to giving more freedom of their IP to other venture such as the Mario movie, theme parks, tv shows, merchandise, toys to life (Amiibo is a huge success which has room to grow)etc actually suggests to me that Nintendo are in really good shape going forward.

To further thatm his example of Kodak misses.   Kodak's main business was photographic/cinematic film for that 100 years.   Nintendo's main business for most of their 130 years has been playing cards.  So Nintendo did change.  Drastically.

Awesoem so there is hope they will change ditch unsuccesfuly hardware and succeed as 3rd party.

I already see it happening, nx being a hybrid and moible games is them dipping their tippy toes into 3rd party status.

Nintendo is losing relevance in the videogame market. Most of their games are rehashed products over and over again. In terms of creativity, Nintendo is becoming useless. Many high profile studios and indies are humiliating the once trend setter Nintendo. Their hardware suck as well. Their obsession with simplicity and the need to "hey, look! we're different!" are forcing them to include gimmicks like tablet controller and 3D that didn't prove their funcionality. Instead of powerful systems consumers are offered expensive features that aren't that great. As a company, right now, Nintendo is a unfocused mess. It's failing as a hardware and first party developer and Nintendo would suck as a third party as well.

Well Splatoon is pretty hot right now in both critical acclaim and sales. A timely reminder of just how relevent Nintendo is to this business.

Its not about my hopes, it's about Nintendo plans. Personally don't expect Wii numbers but definitely expecting much better numbers than Wii U having.

I dont.

I dont expect good things releasing new hardware into the face of PS4 at its best releasing its top exclusives and potential sub 300$ price.

Thus begs the question.

What would splatton sale on a 40m PS 15m Xbox 125m steam user base.

Thats is a drool worth user base to sale quality software on.

Of Course Nintendo will never fail like Sega, but my point was that Sega was strongest and had best games while they had their own platform no when they become third party.

Sega lost their touch, I don't think the lower quality of their games in the 2000's was specifically because they stopped making consoles. Other companies have experienced the same

Dont agree, one of big reasons why Nintendo games are so good is because they make hardware with mind on their games, their platform gives them lota opportunities and freedom that they wouldn't have if they are third party, Nintendo games that are not on Nintendo hardware would have lower quality than todays Nintendo games.

But I find whole this thread and this talk unnecessary, because Nintendo will not go third party, much bigger chances are that MS will pull up from gaming.

Whata re you like 10.  Cant accept reality ? every one these days accepots that fact.

If you cant accpet wii was a fad and you honestly think next nintendo hardware can do such numbers then all is.  I will laugh hard when capcon owns zelda and MS mario.

Capcom couldn't afford Nintendo.  They netted just $55 million last year.  Not enough to buya company valued in the billions.

ne of their games on other consoles.  Guess they are going 3rd party first then.

Hope so, xbox makes more sense to me as a steam competitor then a console.

Xbox preloded on ever PC with a free demo of Halo and Forza makes even more sense to me.

Nintendo already said they will not compete with PS4/X1 again, they said NX is something unique with new way of playing.

Nintendo is gaming, eveything about there games represent what gaming should be, problem with the western gamers they only care about games with violence and crudity in it, any responsible adult would buy there child a Nintendo system, alot of parents dont even care what there buying there kids, and the kids think its cool to play these sort of games.
Give me a game like Fast Racing Neo or Donkey Kong Country over your imature little shooting games filled with violence, if that makes you feel grown up good luck to you.
