First of all: I somewhat agree. Enough with this modern/futuristic bullshit, it's time to go back to WW2, Vietnam or ever Korea.
Second of all: stuff like new melee weapons and customization are here to stay, people enjoy unlocking those and even spend money on them. It wouldn't make any sense for the devs and Activision to cut that out, regardless of time-period.

I want an alternate Timeline in which the cold war didn't stay cold! Make a CoD with WW3 in the 60s or something.

Could be they're making new Call of Duty WW1/WW2 arc. We have to wait next 3 years, then we'll see.

I agree, I've actually been saying this for quite some time now. To me the future setting is not cool, but cheesy and over the top. Anyway, I would also take a game that takes place in WWI, like that rumor that was going around a while ago.

No way. I couldn't stand the WW2 COD games. Modern Warfare got me back to playing COD again, but only the single player aspects.
