that the AAA games are the definition of soulless and everything from sequels to even new IP's are all starting to feel the same to me.

I'll have to agree with you on this, I only have a Wii U  + a PC that I bought to play some more demanding games. The truth is, most of the upcoming games I'm looking forward to playing on PC are either indies or non-AAA games like A Hat in Time, Yooka-Laylee, SuperHOT, Planet Coaster, etc.

Why even bother making new IP's if the games are so similar to existing ones? It's like creating a new Assassin's Creed and renaming it to something like ''Path of the Assassin's'', it would technically be a new franchise, but the game itself would be more of the same thing, lol. Also, this reminds me of Ubisoft's E3 this year, where they showed Rainbox Six Siege and the new Ghost Recon, I thought they were a single game, they looked so similar to each other.

Finally, my unpopular opinion is that games these days are focusing too much on graphics and realism that it's making them kinda bland and less fun overall. It's fine to have realistic and/or high-budget games, but we need more variety. If anything we need more new games from abandoned IP's like Bomberman, Crash Bandicoot, and so on.

You basically quoted the sentiment of most of both the Indie and Retro gamer scenes. So I don't think it's unpopular, just not mainstream.

- Advanced Variable Geo 2 is one of the best 2D fighting games ever, even better than Street Fighter Alpha 3.

- Metal Gear Solid is a overrated series.

- Ocarina of Time is overrated.

- Super Smash Bros. Brawl is way better than Melee.

Never heard of Advanced Variable Geo 2 before. On which platform is this game? Oh, and my favorite 2D fighting game is actually an old PC exlusive and currently freeware (meaning totally free, not free2play): One Must Fall 2097

And I agree on the others, too

Funny also to note how so many feel OoT/FF VI/GTA/TLOU/MGS/ARPGs are totally overrated. One should send a link of this thread to the major publishers for them to ponder about.

The PS3 was one of the worst consoles ever created. Everything from the architecture to the console, to it's price point was rather disgusting. In fact, the 7th generation of consoles possibly featured some of the worst consoles as a whole.

Current gaming platforms - Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, New 3DS, PC

Playstation 1. It's a japanese-only game.

I dont realy like Zelda games. Story is very simple, the gameplay is barebones, Link doesnt even have an expression and art direction is totaly cartoony

I dont realy like the Metal Gear series, and I dont realy know why, objectively the games have everything I usualy love in games, but I just never have fun playing the MG games.

Gameplay and/or the atmosphere of games has gotten worse and worse since the 5th gen across many genres with only disc capacity(resulting in more content) and graphics improving i.e command and conquer red alert, civilisation, tekken 3, metal gear solid, gran turismo. They glam it up, stick in copious amounts of content and generally overdo it. Shooters may be the only example where this isn't true and the odd game like the witcher 3 is also an exception but having played my ps1 discs in my PS3 over Christmas, I have no desire today to play anything but red alert, tekken 3 and the likes......even craving antiquated PC TBS now over the likes of civilisation V.

If you could retrofit any of those games with better graphics and online play, I think we would all see that they had the perfect balance of complexity and simplicity. They just had no online play and the graphics could have been better. And dlc instead of play to unlock is just greed that has ruined the industry. It used to be " I wonder how much I can unlock by winning as x or y. You knew the unlocks weren't limitless and that there was a point of "full collection" through achievement. I miss those days. The mystery of games is just gone!

Wind Waker Link does. Simple story isn't a bad thing and neither is having a cartoony art style. You might as well change your unpopular opinion to "I think all games should look realistic" or "cartoony graphics suck" or "every game needs a convoluted plot".

And yet now it's €80 second hand, and is the go to place to play your ps1 discs, can function as your 3d compatible blu ray player, spotify, Netflix, Hulu and the likes, probably has the best selection of games from the 7th gen etc etc. from the beast to a beauty.

Yeah I don't understand the strong storyline thing. It's not a movie. I want to play a game. That's why I bought a game!! Sure, certain genres can have a storyline but the whole thing of "no Oscar = shit game" makes no sense.

After watching a longplay of the story mode, I was left wondering if it was due to the fighting or the fanservice - both seem top-notch ;)

Actually, I like everything about this game. The characters, the story mode, the anime cutscenes, the soundtrack, the gameplay... It's just very good.

However, the only things I like about this series is the OVA, and AVG2. The first AVG has a lot of gameplay issues, and the SNES version... Well, it's Ok, but I feel it could be better.
