o_O ?

You were wondering what is so great or impact about TLOU right ? I just trying to give you the answers here, bud.

And I'm asking what impact it had? What did it do new? What did other games copy from TLOU? SMG is a great game, but it barely had an impact on its genre as no one tried to emulate it (except Lost World).

You still didnt get it do ya ?

I can't asnwer that question, ya know why ? Becuz how can i convince someone that's clearly doesnt give a shit about what i say ? You're so stubborn about what you think that you would always come up with another excuses or something to disprove my points, and we will always end up debating with each other and even hating each other for a fuckin video game...

And i don't want that. That's why i suggested you to listening to the people that you want to hear or someone you hold in high regard, instead of someone you don't.

So I take it you can't show me the impact it had on the game industry. That's alright, very few games had a meaningfull lasting impact on the gaming industry. I'd say the last one was Minecraft.

"Called people insecure for having an opinion about a game that's different than the mainstream one."  I've done another of the sort.

"You try to attack the person instead of the arguments."  Your "arguments" are nothing but excuses.  Games you don't like are "overrated", while games you do like are treated unfairly if they don't win the most GOTY awards.  This phantom bias you preach about is nothing more than you trying to address your own insecurity because your favorites didn't win as many awards.

Do you know why those games didn't win?  Because the people voting liked other games more.  Just. Deal. With. It.  Unstrap your ego from from video-games and realize how amazingly silly you look.

But, no, you're not going to do that, are you?  You're just going to keep babbling about, "oh, Skyrim is edgy and mature, THAT'S why they voted for it, not because they liked it!"  Goddamn.  Read over what you're saying.  No one cares about your inferiority complex.  Everyone else is out there playing the games they want to play.

As far as the Ghibli/Disney thing goes, you aren't even making sense anymore.  When is the last time they won an Academy Award for Best Picture?  And yet, no one pitches a fit and whines about how that means "omg bias".  If someone does pout about it, they aren't taken seriously, because those works get plenty of respect, just as with well-made "kid friendly" games.  Your persecution complex is meaningless.

My favorite games rarely win the most GOTY awards and I'm completely fine with that.

Are you serious?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Academy_Award_for_Best_Animated_Feature

Yes, when a list over a period of more than 12 years includes only mature games than we can speak of selection bias. You're not even making any sense as I love games with a dark and mature setting. That doesn't mean that I think only those games should be eligable for GOTY nominations. Zelda and Metroid are by far my two favorite Nintendo franchises. Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, the "dark" Zelda games, are my two favorite ones in the franchise. I love the sight of a falling civilisation and dead rotting bodies on planet Aether in Metroid Prime 2. My favorite Wii game is Xenoblade Chronicles, a game that is too complex for children to get into. Stop trying to pretend to even remotely know what goes on in my head or what games I like.

Tell me how a game with as many bugs, glitches and performance issues as Skyrim won even one GOTY award? Please do tell me. When's the last time you played a platformer with a framerate that dipped to zero and still won GOTY awards?

Best.  Picture.  Award.  Is it even possible to mix that up?  What are you even talking about now?  Aren't we talking about "Game of the Year" and not "Family Game of the Year"?  Come on, stop trying to purposefully muddy the subject.  It's not exactly hard for a family film to win Best Animated Feature when they make up 90% or more of the entries.

How did Skyrim win?  You want to know?  This is a secret now, so listen close:  A lot of people enjoyed playing it.  Why is that tough for you to understand?  For millions of people, the positives far outweighed the negatives.  It's not rocket science, dude.  There is a hell of a lot more to enjoying a game than simply a solid framerate.

This is a waste of time, though.  You're going to believe what you want to believe, it would seem.  Just keep telling yourself that it's all a big conspiracy.  Yeah, that's probably what's happening.

No point in debating with someone who thinks just because something is animated it's meant for children and their parents. Animated features can be mature and child friendly. Princess Mononoke isn't a family film at all for instance. And Star Wars VII, the biggest success movie of the year, made by Disney, is definitely aimed at children. And it's getting a lot of (deserved) praise.

A lot more people enjoyed Minecraft, why didn't that win over Skyrim? Why is that though for you to understand? It's not rocket science, dude. Oh, and as if Skyrim's problems are only limited to the framerate! Haha.

Yeah, you're right, I think animation is just for kids and parents!  Ahaha~  That's absolute gold ...

It's time for bed but, in closing, all I can say is that I'm glad I'm not like you.  I seriously, honestly mean that.  I'm glad that I can just accept that other people might like different games than I like.  I'm glad that I don't have to make up conspiracy theories to justify what I like to myself.  I'm glad I don't pout about GOTY voting or that I don't have to pretend that voters have some kind of secret agenda against what I like.  Because, really, I find that sad.

Good luck with your internet outrage and all that.

I'm glad I'm not like you where no one can ever discuss anything and we have to agree with everything on everyone. Man, you're boring. Can I suggest you pout elsewhere, so we can debate on this forum without someone with a superiority complex butting in?

I better never see you disagreeing with someone or something just because he thinks something different!

I also think there is an hidden agenda that helps some games. Mature games always have an advantage.
If they address polemic subjects, like Inquisition with gay relationships, you also get an edge (even more in a #GG year).

That said, we are narrowing it down a lot. Nintendo for example always have nominees and get some GOTYs, just not the majority. If we could analyse the nominees we would see that Nintendo does get a lot of recognition.

I have my skepticism against 2013's TLOU, loved the plot and writting, but i found the gameplay a little dull.
I strongly disagree with 2014's Inquisition. It is a good recover from the second DA, but i would not even consider it as a nominee.

You complain about The Last of Us and Sky rim getting GOTY awards, it's seems like you're trying to say that the games aren't very good yet people pick them as GOTY so they can look cool for picking a mature game.

Guys , move on please , The last Of U s is great and nothing you will ever say will change that.

Best game of last gen hands down.

Then why do so many people prefer Minecraft over TLOU? Then why are there so many Minecraft clones yet no one copied TLOU? Why didn't it sell more on PS3? I mean Super Mario Galaxy sold more than double of what TLOU sold. I mean if it was hands down the best game of last gen then why didn't it perform better or have a bigger impact on the gaming industry?

Without a doubt Minecraft is the game of the last generation. It became a worldwide phenomenon like Pokémon before it. It came out of nowhere, just like Pokémon. It did new innovative things, just like Pokémon. It inspired countless of clones, just like Pokémon.

Ok you are right, candy crush is the best game of last gen, millions and millions played it so it most be the most fucking amazing game out there.

It's a mobile game and thus doesn't belong to console generations, so yeah, you're wrong. It's also comparing a free game to games that are $30-$70. When it comes to mobile games though, yes, Candy Crush is a good game. It wouldn't be played by millions of people otherwise. You just said TLOU was hands down the best game of last gen, as in "there's no discussion possible, it's a fact". I beg to disagree and gave you reasons why other games can claim to be the game of the generation. Minecraft outperforms TLOU on pretty much any parameter I can think of: sales, cultural impact, influence in the game industry, longevity/legacy, merchandise, spin-offs, innovation, etc.
