Forums - Nintendo - IGN Previews Okami PLUS Capcom exec says Wii is where it's at.

I like how you only choose what you want to respond to. What of almost all the games the Wii is recieving being ports? Zack & Wiki, sure, its new, but it also didn't take very long to make, I don't know why you people are so in love with the game that has barely any replay value. And Monster Hunter? No one in the West cares about Monster Hunter, do you care about it? Is it in your top ten?

Oh and how could I have left out a Golf game? That's the true merit of any console's success. Sorry, the games a developer puts on a console to show its support are the games that developer is putting the bulk of their money and top teir development teams behind. Everything that has been given to the Wii by Capcom thus far has been either outsourced to different companies or handled by the lower tier development teams at a bargain bin budget. The true merit of a developer's support is where they are putting their money, where are they putting their effort, where are they putting their big name flagship games... And that's not what Capcom is doing to the Wii. Sure Capcom is putting more games on the Wii, because they're all ports or low budget projects. So RE5 and DMC4 started development before the Wii? Well what has Capcom announced for the Wii on their level that will be comming out for it in the future?

You want Capcom to keep making games like this? Well their are plenty of last-gen games that could be ported to the Wii, so I suppose your wish could very well come true.

I feel I've made my point and you're certainly inclined to dissagree, but there's no point in taking this thread down the gutter anymore in my rants especially when its somewhat off-topic.

It doesn't matter how you feel about monster hunter, it's a huge game that was a PS3 exclusive before.  It is a high budget game being handled by some of their best developers at capcom, isn't that exactly what you are talking about?  You don't like it?  fine, but don't think that it is some kind of low tier or budget game, it is far from that.

I have to agree with Onimusha12 that Capcom has not put the same resources into Wii support that the other systems have gotten.

But Onimusha12, that ignores the fact that we the gamers have gotten fucking ridiculous mileage out of the resources that it did put towards the Wii.

It goes beyond pessimism to blindness if you look at the first point and ignore the second. Capcom is running out of awesome last-gen games begging for Wii ports, and then we'll get your "real" games.

Well I don't think that anyone would argue that any publisher has put the same resources towards the Wii as they put into the PS3 or XBox 360; many (most) third party publishers' expectations for the Wii was that at best it would carve out a niche for itself and sell 20 to 40 Million consoles worldwide.

I believe that it is also undisputed that many (most) third party publishers are now scrambling to adapt to a market where the Wii is outselling the competition by a wide margin. The unfortunate problem (for Wii owners) is that this support won't appear overnight. Many of the "big" games Onimusha12 is complaining the Wii doesn't have take (roughly) 2 years to develop, will (likely) not be shown until they have been in development for 9 to 15 months, and take months to start a project once it has been proposed; this means that if Capcom (or any publisher) decided to produce a Resident Evil game for the Wii in March of last year we might start hearing about it today.

^ That too.

Kinda sad that games are struggling to be recognized as an art form because people refuse to buy anything but blood and boobs. When something truly unique and incredible comes along it's not given a chance.

What's even sadder is when a game like No More Heroes Comes Out that has Tons of Artw/ Blood and great gameplay and doesnt become a big seller. what ever happened to Players' Choice titles anyway? that would help titles like
NMH and Okami.

How much of what was Clover is now Seed? I hear a lot of people talk as if almost everyone made the switch.

@Onimusha12

I definately understand your anger but, the truth is i would rather have capcom doing all these ports (very well made i must add) than 90% of the publishers/developers , producing crap like crusin, at least we can be assured that a capcom game will be a well made solid experience.

But even with wii success, its still gets treated like the ugly chick in the corner, no one aproaches her unless they are really horny lol. But things will change, i know this has been said since the wii came out but it really will, it took the DS close to 3 years b4 it started getting games of higher caliber than the psp.

This may sound sad, but in this gen there will be some publisher/developers i would not mind see going. It saddens me that in a industry that should be the most creative, it lacks creativity.

I love Zack & Wiki too, but its not on the level of appeal or sales such as games like DMC4 or RE5. Maybe if they put money into advertising or actually pushing the damn game it would have sold numbers that it deserved.

I love REUC too, but its a sloppy game and its hasty development shows.

Capcom is giving the Wii ok support, but its hard not to be upset by the fact they're all last gen ports and rehashes, its hard not to be upset when you see the NEW BIG PROJECTS going to the 360 and PS3. It's hard not to be upset when the Wii games get no tV commercials whatsoever or Magazine hype two years in advance.

The money being put into the 360 and PS3 games far outweighs those going to the Wii's. Advertising put into the 360 and PS3 games far outweighs the Wii's. Has Capcom said that the PS3 or 360 need to pass any tests? Because they've said the Wii has to.

I love the games Capcom is putting on the Wii, I just wish it was getting the cream of the crop that Capcom is saving for the HD consoles.

Yes, Capcom is giving the Wii fantastic support, if your argument is that the Wii is the little hand-me-down straggler of this generation.

Completely agree with you.  I don't think Capcom is going to give Wii full support.  Wii will get loads of Capcom games but Capcom's main efforts would be multi platform PS3/360 games.  Monster Hunter 3 is an exception as it is a Japanese game and Wii is lightyears ahead of the combined sales of PS3/360 in Japan so doesn't make sense for it to be released as a multi platform PS3/360 game.  Non-Japanese games will just get the Devil May Cry treatment and the sales of that game have shown how that makes sense.  I love Wii and Nintendo but I have to be realistic and accept that situation.
