29 states and dc have a higher minimum wage than the federal minimum. that wasn't the case then.

But that was a relatively new intiative (1/1/15), 21 states are at or below the federal minimum, 38 states are below $8.34, and the average minimum wage was $7.49 in 2013.

I did acknowledge that the average price was a little higher than federal minimum wage now compared to a little more back in '39, but as even your link shows the spending power of minimum wage as a whole is better, so people on minimum wage well have over all more disposable income compared to then. Especially considering great depression and war years.

Also the average ticket price gets inflated when there are lots of 3D and Imax movies doing well. So it's not half the people are paying more and half paying less, or the most common price paid. So most people are seeing movies for less, how much I don't know but when some movies ate having 40% or more seeing it 3d or Imax I wouldn't be surprised if it got pretty close to the national average for minimum wage.

The peak was indentified as 1968, so any movie that released after that (or multiple times before that) would have been affected by a weakening effective minimum wage. Also, let's keep in mind that Bureau of Labor has long been criticized for understating actual inflation rates. This diminished purchasing power would only have enhanced/exacerbated the other factors you listed.

Reports are coming in and its Wednesday #s actually increased from Tuesday. Massive. It truly has a legitimate shot at beating Titanic's adjusted dom. gross. ( $1.07b )

Hey great that it sold so much but yall who are cheering it wont see anything from this money.

What? Observing a legendary box-office run such as this in itself is worth cheering for, not to mention that the star wars universe can only get bigger from here on.

If you're a fan of Star Wars , you should be aware of the endless routes than can be taken. What we've seen so far doesn't even come close to its potential, perhaps due to producers being scared of releasing a movie without faces and names we're familiar with.

That goes for this entire site. And pretty much anything else anyone would cheer for.
