If I was a stock holder for Microsoft I would immediately start selling. Sony is doing great regarding playstation, insurance and that is about it.They lose way too much money in the other sectors to be considered valuable. Maybe if they drop all the dead weight first.

As it's mainly the same tech I wonder if they could they boost compatibility between systems? Effectively semi merging them by making it so all future xbox 1 games worked on the ps4.

Sony as a whole is making a net profit. And also, movies, music, their devices segment (including stuff like their camera sensors, which are used in both Samsung's phones and iPhones), home entertainment & sound, imaging products & solutions are all profitable, some of them more profitable than Playstation. Furthermore, Sony's smartphone business, while not profitable at the moment, is a whole lot more succesful than Microsoft's Windows Phone.

As a new, probably illegal immigrant there, I doubt I'd be able to afford much time to gaming because it'll be 'survival' in real time.
