but there's a lack of original characters and locations..

So Sticker Star did poison this game. Yep I'm not buying it then. As a fan of both series I simply cannot support the direction they're taking them.

A part of me wants to believe that Paper Jam doesn't have original characters/locations because it reuses assets and to save time.. :/

If you want to satisfy your Mario RPG hunger. I don't think it seems that impressive though. However, it does look a bit better than Dream Team and that game. no pun intended, puts me to sleep.

Pretty much. Nintendo can't be bothered to put full effort into the 3DS anymore it seems.

I'm undecided as well. I like Mario and Luigi games, but every time I buy a game with Paper Mario in it that isn't an actual Paper Mario game, it feels like I'm telling Nintendo that I'm okay with this.

TTYD is legitimately one of my favorite games ever, and I have to say, I have been craving a proper followup for ages now. I didn't buy the Wii thing, nor have I wasted my money on Sticker Star. That said, I may burn money on this just because it actually has Paper Mario in what seems to be a more standard Paper Mario role. Of course, I also fear this is just an easy cash in using a formula Nintendo knows will make money but will ultimately do neither series it involves enough justice.

The struggle is real for Paper Mario fans.

VERY real.

Oh yeah I even made a thread about it. :L

We can only hope this means they'll go all out on the NX, and maybe we'll finally get a true Paper Mario game... maybe.

I don't see why they would make another SS-like game, considering that game's reception. I really hope they've learned a lesson.

Well it's the second best selling Paper Mario game, second only to SPM, that's why I'm worried.

They also dropped the price to $21.95 and it was sold for as low as $9.95 for a time. Were the majority of the sales before or after they slashed the price by nearly 50% (as it was 39.95 to begin with)?

Probably though I can't be 100% sure, but it was the same for the previous games. TTYD becoming a Player's Choice and SPM becoming a Nintendo Select, selling for the same $20. I'm sure they had further limited time deals aswell, if not through Nintendo then by retailers.
