Forums - Gaming - How do You pronounce the word 'niche'

Niche is pronounced niche, not nitch.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Nish.

nitch for me. It just sounds better than neesh. Idk how to describe it, it just flows better in english than neesh which sounds out of place, in my mind

Edit: People gotta stop bitching about which pronunctiation is "correct" -none are more correct than others. That's the beauty of language, it is ever changing. I love watching languages evolve, even now we see the english language changing all around us within our own countries. It's always nice seeing variations in the same language

In US English, the only spoken pronounciation is "nitch". You can look it up online and click to hear it if you want. I don't know about the rest of the English speaking world though. It may be different.

That's your problem right there. US english is an oxymoron.

If our version of English is an oxymoron, than what is yours? You guys say "Nike" like "nighK" and Adidas like "add-a-dass". lol

I usually say neesh because that's how I was taught it in biology.

I pronounce it like the word "Quiche" expect with a "n" sound instead of a "q" sound.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

NNID: Slarvax - Steam: Slarvax - Friend Code:  SW 7885-0552-5988

I've always said nitch.

The correct way.

You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt!  I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading.  After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

We pronounce Nike based on other English words (bike, like, spike etc), but yes it should be ny-ki

Pretty sure we pronounce Adidas correctly (exactly as it is spelt)... I have heard people pronounce it with an elongated e sound instead of short i (adeedass) but I thought that was a US pronunciation. I have never heard anyone say addadass.
