I grew up in US pronouncing it "nich" as in it rhymes with "rich".
When I lived in UK people pronounced it "neech" as in it rhymes with "quiche".

| TruckOSaurus said: I pronounce it "neesh" (since it more closely resembles that French pronunciation). I can't really see how you would get to the "nitch" pronunciation since there's no "t" in the word. |
Never thought about adding a "t" as I assumed it rhymed with "rich".

N sound for the "n". I for the "i" and ch for the "ch". The e is silent. |
Okay I see(hear) it now. Although, I'm not gonna be changing the way I pronounce it, "nitch" sounds horrible, "niche" sounds classy.

In US English, the only spoken pronounciation is "nitch". You can look it up online and click to hear it if you want. I don't know about the rest of the English speaking world though. It may be different. |
It is different.

Click on both pronounciations.

I pronounce it as neesh but I've gotten used to hearing nitch so I may sometimes use that one as well :p
There isn't a for sure way in saying it because nitch is the American pronunciation
This sort of reminds me of how to pronounce shone
Is it pronounced as 'shawn' (gone)
or 'shown' (bone)

I usually pronounce it nitch even though I know it's pronounced as neech/neesh by others. Old habits can last for a long time...

I use something close to "nish".

I use neither (neether or nyther?) ... "shone" has a short vowel sound, shawn and shown have long vowels.
Oh wait, I understand now. By "shawn" you mean it to rhyme with "gone" which is a short vowel. As such I pronounce it like that as if there is no 'e' (shon)
I didn't realise there was another pronunciation.
As for niche, I use 'neesh' and it took me a few seconds to figure out what someone meant the first time I heard it said as 'nitch'

I really don't care how people pronounce things. I use to, but it'll drive a person crazy giving a shit at that micro level lol
