I find it more important to speak in whatever language you're speaking in correctly. In this case (English), it is pronounced as "nitch". Pronouncing it in any other way in English would be inncorrect.

I pronounce it "neesh" (since it more closely resembles that French pronunciation). I can't really see how you would get to the "nitch" pronunciation since there's no "t" in the word.

I've heard it "nish" "neesh" and "nitch"

I go back and forth between nish and neesh

Shorten the "e" sound and that's it. At least if it's supposed to be said like the french term.

Americans pronounce it wrong, they say it like 'nitch' its meant to be pronounced like 'neesh'

In US English, the only spoken pronounciation is "nitch". You can look it up online and click to hear it if you want. I don't know about the rest of the English speaking world though. It may be different.

before i said nitch, now i say neesh.

N sound for the "n". I for the "i" and ch for the "ch". The e is silent.
