Forums - Gaming - Sony did it, what should Microsoft (Xbone) and Nintendo (WiiU) do to make a comeback?

Nothing. They both should follow the same strategy, 1st) make some profit this gen 2nd) Build new studios and 3rd) make a bunch of new IPs. It would pay off the most next gen. Both of 'em are relying on their typical line up to sell their consoles and that's not working.

MS just need to keep doing what they are doing make sure they never launch a console like they did the Xbox One.

Evidently, Sony is hardly doing anything at all to achieve their sales. MS could have been doing just as well or dented the PS4's significant lead if it wasn't for the Pre-launch controversies.

You mean aside from spending big on marketing the PS4?

Sony is hardly doing anything at all to achieve their sales? Dude, the PS4 has a lot more game that appeal to gamers more worldwide than the xbox one does. MS consoles have yet to break past 100m consoles sold and only managed to match playstation's poorest selling console in sales and yet you think xbox is equal with playstation.

Wii U can still make a comeback drop the gamepad (make it optional), make patches and Software updates for games and the UI, and sell it for 150$. Remove the youtube policies and push mario maker again.

They should also add every wii game which isnt using motion control into the wiiu store and make the games compatible without going into the wii menu. Thuse the console will have more games in consumers eye.

Make morE amiibos, and try get into china

The Wii U can't. Nintendo's only remaining card to play is the NX... MS is spread too thin. Since Xbox One consoles do run Windows 10, MS can always use their last resort and enable cross compatibility with Windows 10 software. Sales might skyrocket, since people will no longer see the Xbox One as a console, but as a console, cable box, PC, home theater all in one box. Since a lot more people buy PCs and the Xbox One is not as weak as some think (it's a mid tier non gaming PC), the price and form factor might make it very easy to sell, especially if they enable the desktop for keyboard and mouse users.

You can built a mid rang pc and plug into your tv and use it also as cablebox. What would be the point?

Basically they have to keep supporting the systems and not drop them as yesterday's failure. Theres people who bought and people who see. If you show a great level of commitment to your product, despite how it is performing, you will earn the consumer trust that will make your next system more sucessful. If consumers know they aren't gambling with their money and are getting value with your product, they are more likely to buy the next one.

That is where Sony suceeded with the PS3. They never gave up and even in the last year where Microsoft was already changing gears and thinning the support for the 360 sony showed it was still fully commited until the last year of the PS3, with great exclusive AAA titles coming out.

How was sony behind last year?

Their "worst selling console" racked up 80 million, and their handheld managed to rack up 80 million as well. That is very impressive.

The only thing they're behind in are TV's, Smartphones, and other common day appliances.

What? Playstation brand never made a comeback, it was always big!
Imo Xbox One and Wii U can't beat PS4 anymore.

The first line is right... the second one is tentatively wrong...

They are equal, or did you forget that Sony has been on this for far longer and they made the first breakthrough? Eroding that does not happen overnight.

They won't cost $300 and allow you to play exclusives, connect your cable box to it and hook up your Kinect for augmented reality games...

Even the worst selling PC brand outsells the PS4 6 to 1. An Xbox PC caters not just to gamers, but to anyone who wants to do stuff. As Gates himself said, the brand was meant to create an all in one console, not a gaming hub...

As long as Sony maintains at least 50% of the two console market in the English speaking world, its impossible for Microsoft to get the jump on them. Sony is just too big in the rest of the world.

Nintendo just needs to keep going about their own thing. New leadership should help them modernize their business.

Nothing?
When MS doesn't 1) launch cheaper and 2) launch earlier, then Sony automatically wins (and even then they still did in the end..), every other factor being totally irrelevant. They have to keep their current MAU worship and abandon any pretense of market share or delusions of leadership.
Can't write about Nintendo cause kowai

Wait for Sony to go bankrupt and sell the Playstation division. Its much more closer to reality than MS selling off the Xbox division.
