Forums - Gaming - Sony did it, what should Microsoft (Xbone) and Nintendo (WiiU) do to make a comeback?

I never implied otherwise...

Since Sony is basically sitting on the hopes and dreams of Xbone and Nintendo, I think Sony can potentially make their lead bigger.

All they need to do is give up on the phone industry. They simply can't do well there. Huawei and Oneplus managed to rise up against phone giants such as Apple, Samsung, and LG, but Sony simply couldn't do so. If they gave up on the phone industry and focused more on Playstation, who knows what type of success they'll reach soon?

A monopoly?

Gaming is dead the moment MS leaves the race...

The gaming market was doing well without 'em. Most likely, another company would take the opportunity to fill that gap. During the PS2 era, it wasn't a monoply with it's sales.

Hence why I hope that this doesn't end up in a monopoly. I can deal with 155+ million sales. Same goes for another company coming in, so long as they are good (if their name is Google, Apple, Samsung, LG or Amazon, then I am out)...

What would be a good company to enter the console market in your opinion since you scratched those off the list?

doesnt Valve have Steambox? And those companies you scratched off have a far better chance of getting in the HW market than the ones you listed.

Microsoft already made their comeback, considering Xbox 360 was THE console to have last gen, it started out rough this gen for them. But now, they've made Xbox One was it should've been in the first place, had the strongest exclusive lineup, true backward compatibility, and are bringing many new IP's in 2016. Sales are nearing 20,000,000 in 2 years, Microsoft is just fine, and should continue doing what they are doing.

Nintendo just needs more third party support, and to give people more incentive to buy their console. Maybe a more robust online component, and less focus on Nintendo games if that makes sense.

The 360 proved that Sony has to slip up for people to look at a secondary brand as the primary item. Its basically back to the norm now. The PS4 is outpacing the PS2. The 360 could never attest to that.

Maybe X1 is overtracked by VGC, and sales in the Global could be way below 17M...

X1 having the strongest exclusive line up is only your opinion, as the fact it should be in 1st place.  Gamers say the opposite, having PS4 almost twice the user base of X1.  360 was a better console compared to its generation, and was the leader and dominating in NA.  Now X1 is losing in MS land, at home, so don't call it a come back. 360 had overall better multiplatform games, slighty better graphics/performance, and now is PS4 to have the best multiplatform games.

Call of Duty is now better on PS4 and selling better on PS4 by a long margin. MS is losing !  Sony got stronger, MS got weaker, this is why PS4 is now dominating in the Global.

You said 360 was the console to have, last gen...why ? Because of better multiplatform games ? So you admit PS4 is the console to have now, right ?

Call of Duty is better and selling better on PS4, so PS4 is the console to have... PS4 is the leader in NA also, so PS4 is the console to have now...Halo is going down and down, and I think X1 has a weaker exclusive line up compared to 360, and gamers are showing this.

I'm not saying X1 is a bad console, actually it's a good console, we should just enjoy the game experience. But Sony did a better job than MS this Gen.

There is no coming back for the Wii U, imo. The X1 has to somehow convince people outside of the USA to buy it, to make a comeback.

I doubt all this, but you're right that Sony started out with a huge lead and they won't be closing it unless they have a surge in popularity in Europe, and the entire continent hates not just the Xbox, but Microsoft as a brand...

Apple TV made people think Apple would destroy the gaming market

(laughs)

Ignorant fools. The Wii U is like a god compared to Apple TV
