In 10 years people will be saying why don't they make games like this anymore. It will be remembered like mgs1 was for its great story.

If GTA V and Bioshock didn't exist, sure.
Ask me again in 10 years.
For now, I don't see this game being too relevant in the distant future, tbh.
"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
Timeless games are games with stylish graphics that still stand after a long time like Wind Waker, The Last of Us is not one of those, it will be a good game in our memories, but won't be timeless because of the graphics.

Yeah I was going more from the "timeless game from last gen" angle some others were taking. Should have worded it better.
No, it will feel outdated after a zombie apocalypse.
“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I don't think people look back at OoT and think that the gameplay is great now.

I do!
This question should be asked more than 2 years after the game's release, in my opinion. Maybe a decade at least.

Exactly. And that's why this "timeless" thing is being used all wrong. The word timeless originally meant that regardless of times passing, said thing is still great. OOT's gameplay is not great anymore. It was mind blowing then, but if it were released today, in it's original form, people would laugh.
Timeless is something more akin to say, Tetris, Pac-man or SMB. Timeless games are games which when played decades later, are still just as enjoyable. Timeless is NOT something that we look back at in awe over it's revolutionary design (OOT is a great example of this). Those games aren't timeless. They're revolutionary.
