Destiny adds $29.99 microtransaction for boost to level 25

Because Destiny needed MORE negative PR

A new listing for Destiny today has revealed that Activision and Bungie have released a $29.99 micro transaction which will allow you to boost any of your characters straight to level 25.

If this sounds familiar, it should. These packs were originally handed out for free to players of Destiny year one in order to upgrade right to The Taken King. It helped players jump right into the year two content for those who hadn't played or just hadn't leveled up their additional characters yet. As you can tell from the image below, compliments of VG247, the packs will cost $29.99/€39.99 and include a level upgrade to 25 as well as a sub-class boost and some other weapon modifications.

For now, the listing only appears on the PlayStation store and not yet listed on the Xbox Marketplace. However, let's be honest here for a moment, shall we? $29.99 for an upgrade to level 25? That's it? You can get brand new games on sale for 2/3rd's of the price like Battlefront for example. That price seems way too high and it should at least include some sort of max level upgrade like WoW (which, comparitively, costs $60).

It's worth noting that no official announcement has been made, and the microtransaction does not yet show up on the North American PlayStation Store. Anyway, this just seems par for the course with Destiny and we'll be sure to update you with any official announcement from Bungie or Activision.

Title of the thread is confusing. How is $29.99 a microtransaction rather than a macrotransaction?

All jokes aside, I saw this garbage this morning, and coupled with other games, I fully intend to make a meaty thread once I have the time

Shit, that's a macrotransaction

Chesus fuck! If I were SONY I would slowly start separating myself from this project... assuming they are not encouraging it.

And so it starts.....so much for cosmetics only...

What's so bad about this again? Choice is bad now?

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Choice is the problem here buddy.

Um..... I was ok with cosmetic stuff but boosting your level? and what a rip off price. You can get to level 25 pretty easily so why anyone would pay 30 bucks for this is puzzling.

I doubt they would considering Destiny comes from Activision. Activision is a big software mover.

Good. If people are too rich and lazy for their own good I'm all down for them funding the industry.
