Forums - Sony - Sony: 'Our 2015 first party lineup was not as strong as we would have liked'

Michael Ephraim, Managing Director of Sony Computer Entertainment Australia, spoke with Gamespot at the PlayStation 20th Anniversary event in Sydney were he talked about third party partnerships, the first party output this year from Sony and what we could expect for next year.

- Ephraim said on third party partnerships and first party games this year:

“Games that have been released this year, from Destiny, Call of Duty, Star Wars -- most of them we have a collaboration with for additional content if you play on PlayStation 4, so we’re pretty confident with the way Christmas is going. The demand is strong."

"We have worked very closely with third parties this year because our first party lineup was not as a strong as we would have liked."

- on next years exclusive games he said:

"Next year, our first party lineup looks incredible. You’ve got Street Fighter, Uncharted 4, No Man’s Sky, The Last Guardian, Gran Turismo. These are all exclusives, and two of them are new franchises."

Do you think that Sony's first party games were lacking this year?

Nintendo is selling their IPs to Microsoft and this is true because:

No problem Sony, ps4 will still sell. I think they don't even need to release any exclusive anymore and would still win this gen easily.

Not up to their usual standards but it's at least close to (I think it's better) than the "best Xbox lineup ever"

I am Iron Man

I mean, it's not lacking in quality, it's just lacking quantity... something Sony was always good at. Hopefully 2016 turns out to be better.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

That's not what he said:

acknowledged that Sony have been focusing on third-party partnerships to promote PlayStation 4 during the end-of-year period.

Notice the 'during the end-of-the-year period'?

The PS5 Exists.

Last Guardian a new franchise? And Street Fighter as a first party?

Was pretty good though. I'm counting 3 high profile AAA releases and a few smaller ones. Is that really bad compared to the other 2? It won't be too much more next year.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

It's being codeveloped by Sony, so why wouldn't it be.

Damn, this Manage Director doesnt even know his own company, lol. Street Fighters Isnt even a 1st party, and so is No Man's Sky. He shoulda mention REAL Exclusives like DREAM, Gravity Rush 2 and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Especially Horizon Zero Dawn, it's arguably one of the most anticipated Exclusive of next year along with Uncharted 4 and Zelda 2016.
