Forums - Sales - Report: PC Users Shifting to PlayStation 4, Germany Becomes Sony’s Largest Market

Well, I switched from PC too but that was back in 2001.

In fairness I doubt most of them quit pc gaming. I'd say PC gamers also getting a ps4 would be more accurate. And there's no better combination than pc/ps4.

It's interesting. I like all kinds of platforms, but feel like this is the best time for PC in years. Lots of day 1 ports with gen 8 consoles, and most are good or great. I wonder if the post 9xx/3xx cards will affect this. 1440 and 4k, along with better framerate has me choosing PC for multiplats, and still enjoying console for exclusives and genres that I prefer there.

1440/4K....? Pfft! 120-144Hz/4K or nothin'!

My gpus aren't fast enough for most titles to hit 120 or better lol. Gsync makes things nice though. Even 1440/60 feels way better to me than 1080/30 or 1080/dips. Not to say there aren't gaames that run awesome on console as well.

Tagging for a read later on.

Odd statistics tho, I guess maybe just jumping over because of the systems popularity so Teens would want to be where their friends are playing?

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

I'd rather say everyone is switching from 360 which wasn't as unpopular as X1. There is no switching from PC back to console.

A lot of Console games are now coming to Pc, and also a Lot of Pc games are coming to Console, i think that most of the People are Switching Because dont want to Deal with Hardware and Setting Inssues, and the Games that they like are also on the Consoles and is Easier to play, because just need to Plug and Play.

76% declining that sounds like the majority are still pc gamers? and no real source?

Just a few comments about the statements in this article before some of you draw funny conclusions:

"According to a new report, thanks to PlayStation 4 Germany is now Sony’s biggest console market." = Germany is now a bigger market for Sony than UK or France or any other European country. This sentence doesn't say that "Sony gaming" is now bigger in Germany than "PC gaming", it includes no comparison between PS4 and PC gaming market share at all.

"You’ll be surprised to hear that PC users are switching to PlayStation 4, as per the report."

How do they know that the PC gamers are switching (leaving PC gaming behind in favor of PS4 gaming)? Have they declared abstinence from PC gaming? Many will keep their PCs and get a console as an additional system for console exclusives or convenience.

"Just two years ago, Bitkom shared a report claiming that 76% of gamers use PC in Germany so if that percentage is declining, you have to ask why?

Where do they get the information that the percentage (of formerly 76%) is declining? These 76% weren't the PC share of the gaming total (f.e. 76% PC + 24% consoles = 100%). In that survey 76% of the asked gamers said that they game on PC, 43% said they game on consoles, 44% said they game on smartphones and 10% said they game on tablets. Increased percentage on console gaming doesn't mean that the other percentages have to decline, many people use multiple platforms. You also can't gather information from this data, if the PC or the console are the main system of the many people who use both.

https://www.bitkom.org/Presse/Presseinformation/Fuer-die-junge-Generation-gehoeren-Computerspiele-zum-Alltag.html

So why do they bring up the old Bitkom report in that article when the numbers aren't comparable at all? One compares Sony's success in different regions, the other is only a survey of game systems gamers in Germany use or don't use.

Weird wording...? Clearly I'm misunderstanding something, because there's no way Germany is bigger for Sony than the US. Or anywhere close, actually.

Consoles are more bang for your buck. You don't have to upgrade them every couple of years. Buy it once, you can play all of the games that are released for it, for the next 10 years.
